He talked panties and politics: Woman shares Facebook messages from Joe Barton

http://www.star-telegram.com/news/local/community/arlington/article187098988.html

An Arlington woman has shared a series of private messages — some with sexual overtones — she exchanged with U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, a week after he apologized for texting a nude photo of himself to another woman.

The messages, which were obtained by the Star-Telegram on Wednesday, included a mix of politics and questions about whether she was “wearing a tank top only..and no panties.”

Barton and the woman exchanged the Facebook messages in 2012 and 2013 while Barton was still married to his second wife, Terri.

Schilling looked at her husband, Dave McCabe, who’s 67 and a retired high school basketball coach. She nodded at me. “Tell him,” she said to McCabe, “what you said the NFL is …”

McCabe looked momentarily wary. He laughed a little. “I don’t remember saying that,” he said unconvincingly.

Schilling was having none of it. “You’re the one that told me, liar,” she said.

She looked at me.

The NFL?

“N***ers for life,” Schilling said.

“For life,” McCabe added.

Roy Halladay, 40, dies in plane crash in Gulf of Mexico

Source: ESPN

Roy Halladay, a two-time Cy Young Award-winning pitcher who retired from baseball nearly four years ago, has died in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida. He was 40.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said during a news conference that Halladay's ICON A5, a small single-engine aircraft, went down about noon Tuesday near Holiday, Florida.

The sheriff's office marine unit responded to the downed plane and found Halladay's body. No survivors were found. They said they couldn't confirm if there were additional passengers on the plane or say where it was headed.

Halladay recently received his pilot's license and tweeted photos last month of himself standing next to a new ICON A5 as part of the plane's marketing campaign.

BLM at William and Mary shut down ACLU forum chanting Liberalism is white supremacy

Flat Hat News is the William and Mary student paper.

http://flathatnews.com/2017/10/02/black-lives-matter-protests-american-civil-liberties-union/

Sept. 27, Black Lives Matter protestors at the College of William and Mary interrupted “Students and the First Amendment,” a scheduled event co-sponsored by AMP and the American Civil Liberties Union.

First Amendment rights have dominated national conversation in recent months, with opposing sides debating the extent to which hate speech counts as free speech. Following the Aug. 11-12 Charlottesville protests, the ACLU voiced a decisive stance on the issue by defending white nationalists’ right to free speech. The move attracted widespread backlash from ACLU supporters and detractors alike, as well as the College’s BLM chapter, which responded by staging its Sept. 27 protest.

The ACLU discussion never occurred because protesters took over the stage within five minutes of Executive Director of the ACLU of Virginia Claire Guthrie Gastañaga’s entrance. Signs in hand, the protesters shouted chants such as “liberalism is white supremacy” and “the revolution will not uphold the constitution.”

The most disturbing part of this article is this....

After the cancellation was announced, remaining students clustered around Gastañaga, hoping to ask questions and voice concerns. These students dispersed, however, when the protesters began circling around them, drowning out Gastañaga and chanting with increased volume.

This is not education. This is not how colleges and universities should be. Actually preventing students from having even an essentially private discussion with the speaker? Straight up bullying bullshit.

I noticed most of the students protesting in the picture appear to be white.

Has Milo Yiannopouloss Berkeley Troll Circus Become a Fyre Festival for the Right?

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/09/milo-yiannopouloss-berkeley-fyre-festival-for-the-right

The right-wing provocateur promised the “Woodstock” of the far right. But as “Free Speech Week” looms in Berkeley, California, many in his world are wondering whether it will be more like the next Fyre Festival.

When Milo Yiannopoulos last visited U.C. Berkeley, in February, he was met with a spectacular protest straight out of a conservative fever dream. The students of the university, famous for its left-wing activists, set up blockades in front of the hall where the controversial far-right figure was supposed to speak. Black-masked antifa protesters, including many non-Berkeley students from Oakland, swept through the plaza with rocks and Molotov cocktails, and left a trail of destruction in their wake: smashed windows, toppled police towers, and injured students. While in the end Yiannopoulos wasn’t permitted to speak, the event was nevertheless deemed a decisive media victory. Milo had provoked, and Berkeley had responded, as if precisely following a script. The university was shown to be a definitively illiberal institution. Even Donald Trump got in on the leftist bashing, tweeting a subtle threat: “If U.C. Berkeley does not allow free speech and practices violence on innocent people with a different point of view — NO FEDERAL FUNDS?” In the strange calculus of the current free speech war, Yiannopoulos had won by not being allowed to open his mouth.

But Yiannopoulos was hardly able to capitalize on this form of media-trolling glory. The following months, after all, were rather tumultuous. He was forced to resign from Breitbart after it was revealed that he uttered comments that seemed to condone pedophilia. In the wake of the scandal, Simon & Schuster dropped his book deal. (He would later self-publish his work, Dangerous.) He launched a multimedia venue called Milo Inc., with a purported investment of at least $10 million, and promised stunts that failed to meet the notoriety he promised.

I'm not your librarian

I gave you some sources, pay me if you want more of my time digging up 16 year old stuff.

The criticism of Gore (and Kerry also) as bad candidates has been going on for years. How someone whose been here since 2004 can ignore that is beyond me.

I'm also not here to justify the criticism of one candidate over the other. Both Al and Hill were fucking screwed and I have a right to still be pissed about both and not engage in excuses so as to downplay election fraud, and pretend it wasn't the real reason Gore and Clinton "lost".
