Apparently lead singer Shirely Owens didn't want to record the song at first, thinking it was "too country" for her taste. However, after a sweeping string arrangement was implemented, she (thankfully) changed her mind.
Written by Gerry Goffin and Carole King, some radio stations banned the song at the time for containing what they perceived as too sexually-charged lyrics!
More recently Billboard magazine ranked this at no.3 of their "100 Greatest Girl-Group Songs of All Time".

https://twitter.com/RetroNewsNow/status/1778984282121277894Her murder helped lead to the classification of stalking as a felony in California. The law has since provided recourse for such celebrities as Madonna, Jeri Ryan and David Letterman.
The movie Moonlight Mile (2002), written and directed by Brad Silberling, has taken the story from his own experiences as her former boyfriend.
Her stalking/murder shed light on the horrors that celebrities often face with deranged fans turned stalkers. Since her stalker was able to find out so much personal information about her, including her home address from DMV records, laws have been established to protect celebrities' private information.
Lived with co-star Pam Dawber and Dawber's actor husband Mark Harmon in Los Angeles after landing the role of Patti Russell on My Sister Sam (1986).
Shot to death in Los Angeles, California at age 21. Her murderer, Robert John Bardo, was sentenced to life in prison.
As with John Lennon's killer Mark David Chapman before him, Bardo, was found to have in his possession a copy of J.D. Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye" at the time of his arrest...

Dateline
Dateline has never been appointment television for me. That stuff is too damn depressing.
A few weeks ago though I stumbled across an episode that took on the Litvinenko case. This case continues to take on added significance since it aired.

Midnight Caller - Wikipedia
Despite hard-hitting topical episodes dealing with AIDS, capital punishment, and child abuse among other topics, the show lost its audience when it was moved from its original time slot and was cancelled after three seasons. Killian's radio show sign-off comment was "Good night, America, wherever you are."

That Girl
https://twitter.com/willmckinley/status/1709036087673262448I recall reading somewhere that Bill Bixby was once up for the boyfriend role in That Girl.
Never pursued it out of fear of being type-cast. Which is exactly what happened to Ted Bessell.

A-Team to Superstore
George Peppard's birthday mentioned in another thread brought to mind an episode of NPR's It's Been a Minute..https://twitter.com/NPRItsBeenAMin/status/1634569880598122500
An episode of the A-Team and the series @NBCSuperstore were singled out for their pro-union messages. Very rare for Hollywood to allow pro-union themes to be broadcast..

Trump 2024 Ad
Driving home from work tonight they played a rather lengthy Trump for President 2024 ad on Detroit sports station 97.1
It was filled with lies about Trump supporting Unions and claims that Biden policies do not.
Alex Wagner on MSNBC does a good job of debunking that narrative here
Unfortunately most union workers don't watch MSNBC. They watch Fox, or follow right wing radio/social media, and sports talk radio.
