Gen. Russell Honore: Trump Doesn't Care About People of Color

Gen. Honore, the man who turned around the disaster of a response to New Orleans after thousands died, was on CNN the other day.
Asked about what Trump said over not lifting the Jones act - yet- Russell Honore said Trump doesn't care about poor people. Trump doesn't care about people of color.

And that is why Trump made sure Texas and Florida got a response. But, the most devastating hurricane in a century destroys Puerto Rico, leaving it's residence without food, water, medical help and homeless.
Trump's response is to shrug his shoulders.

A journalist today on MSNBC said she heard from Administration people that Trump does not consider Puerto Rico really part of the US.
Just a small part of it is America. But, not really America. Besides, its in debt.

Did anyone inform him it is in debt because Wall Street vultures came in and destroyed to fill their own pockets and congress went along with them and made sure Puerto Rico was left out to dry on their own? No. Because its something Trump himself would do....Wait! Trump did do. He scammed them as well.

All week I knew that the reason Trump left PR to die on its own, its people to suffer...Americans to suffer, is because he sees it as a place where brown people live. It's not a 'white' place. It's brown. Let them die.

Anyway, here is the clip of Russell Honore:

Emails, the media and politics

I was watching Ari Melber's show and he spoke about the media's coverage of Hillary's emails to the one out about Jarred Kushner's emails now. And I just felt this sense of outrage that I just had to write about.

I supported Bernie Sanders in the Primary. I was a strong supporter. I guess that is why I feel I need to write about the recent story about Jared and Ivanka's email use while in the White House.

I do not have the deep emotional attachment and yet, I can say I feel deeply angry over the press and how they went after Hillary on her emails and yet, shrug over the Trump White House use of them.

I don't see breathless all day coverage.
I don't see Breaking New Headlines
I don't see anyone calling for Congressional Hearings
I don't see this garnering over a year of daily coverage and pretty much see the story fading by Thursday.
Hillary's email story was ginned up and made into the overwhelming biggest story of the campaign.

The majority of the people who did not vote for Hillary was because they thought her untrustworthy and a liar. Her emails played a huge role in why people would not vote for Hillary or switched at the last minute.

But, I am betting that the majority of people do not and will not know about those in Trump's White House doing the same thing.

We have an ignorant, psychologically damaged, immature, dangerous, corrupt criminal in the White House. We have his co horts helping him destroy government agencies, our country and our reputation.

And Hillary's emails is most likely the reason why.

Not so much her emails as the way the media covered her, the emails and kept this unspoken but, implied idea in people's heads that both Bill and Hillary Clinton were very corrupt people.

Not competent, capable, experienced people with a deep knowledge of the law and government and diplomacy. But, just basically very corrupt.

So, we get, instead, the person who is actually deeply corrupt, criminal and a constant liar. And also someone with no clue on how to run a country, the government, or how to deal with other leaders. Some who has more then just a bit of psychological problems.

Our country has been put in danger. Will lose its Standing and Reputation - already has. All because of the irresponsible, out of control and bias media.

So, yes. I am deeply angry.

We have Donald Trump as President today because the media has to take a minor oops of a problem and make it into a major, federal criminal issue and would not let it go or tell the truth about it.

There was no other reason Hillary lost. She lost thanks to our Traditional Media and it's continued dislike of the Clintons and ginning up the email story.

It's Not What Trump's Supporters are For but, What They are Against

BBC News has an article written by Katy Kay that touches on why Trump's Supporters will never abandon him. The true believers.
Those who sound like their heads are in the sand.

She points out that it has nothing to do with policies. Oh, they love the idea of the wall and the muslim ban. They love that manufacturing is going to come back to America.....maybe.

But, their hard core support for Trump has little to do with what he's proposed or if it gets done. Or blows it all off.

What's driving them is what they are against.

Immigrants, multi-culture, globalism, change. Change. Change.

If it is not like the way the country was when they were growing up in the 40s and 50s, they are against it.

They think Trump understands and agrees with them. He's against what they are against. So, they see him as their champion not because of what he will do policy wise but, cultural and society wise.

As Ms. Kay writes in the article talking to one older african american Trump supporter:

'Jerry, I'll call him that, is a mild-mannered African American in his early 70s from West Virginia.
He grew up under segregation and it was to his family's deep dismay that he voted for Mr Trump last year.
He believes Mr Trump understands that America needs more discipline, no more young men walking round with their jeans halfway down their butts showing off their boxers, was how he described it to me.
Jerry hankers for a time when young men dressed well, behaved well and didn't answer back to their elders.
When I asked him if he'd be disappointed if Mr Trump failed to live up to his campaign promises of healthcare reform, tax reform and making American manufacturing great again, Jerry was clear.
Mr Trump, he said, would probably never achieve any of those things for three reasons - the media, the Russia investigation and the Republican Party.'

Why Trump's supporters won't abandon him is because of what he stands for: Revisiting the 1950s

The Key to the Trump/Russia Story is Hillary's Emails

Today I was reading musings by Josh Marshall of TPM on the Trump Jr. Story and at the end he talked about something I have also been thinking about: Collusion, Russia and the Trump Campaign seems to be connected to Hillary's Emails.

For awhile I tried to figure out what was the key behind the Trump and Russia connections. Was it about sanctions? Was it about money or oil or real estate? I do think there are some connections there.

But, as Marshall posits: The GOP seems to have been fixated on Hillary Clinton's missing emails. They did not believe her lawyers erased those emails and believed someone, somewhere had those emails. It seemed to be the Holy Grail.

Here is Josh Marshall's take:

All The President's Russian Spies

Forget the explosive headlines that come almost daily.
Forget the Mueller investigation
Forget the Orange Wonder's tweets.

I am waiting for the book and the movie to follow about the whole Russian hacking story and President Orange's treason.

What a book it will be when its all over

Hillary gets standing ovation and shouts of 'We Love You' at theater

Hillary went to the theater with husband and former President, Bill Clinton.

As she walks down the stairway to their seats the audience begins clapping, then standing up in ovation. Shouts of 'We Love You' ring out in the theater as well.

She finally is getting the appreciation she deserves:

Democrats Losing Is Because of the Way the Party Does Elections

People can blame the moderates or the Progressives but, the reason democrats are losing is in a whole other area.

The party and its leaders stopped going to the ground. They rely on computer programs, diagnostics and other fancy programs.
That is all well and good for basic, general information but, computers cannot do Human Nature.

Programs don't do Human Nature.

To a degree, living by programs and computers and avoiding the actual people, even those in red districts to introduce yourself, ask for their vote and listen to their concerns foster the idea and reputation of elites in an ivory tower.

You need to talk and listen to people. People come in all stripes. And many who may like a democratic candidate will switch to a republican one with one long talk by a family member or friend because they are many times confused on issues. And democrats do not fight back smears so, that confused voter is left with a wrong impression

Democrats also do not talk in plain language. Too many times they will give a White Paper answer to a question and you are going to lose people's attention, especially these days, with these long intellectual answers. Democrats lost the ability to give explanations that speak to average people ever since Bill Clinton left.

Democrats have bad strategists and managers and leaders who have lost touch with the average person.

And before those mistake what I mean by an average voter, I am talking of people of all walks of life who are busy.

My daughter is divorced with a demanding job and 2 little girls. Her life is running them to school or camp, going to work, picking them up, groceries, laundry, homework, ect., ect. You know the drill. She does not have time to surf the web and read various blogs or watch news. She has an idea of issues but, not alot of details. She simply does not have the time. To explain she needs it to be short, clear and understandable. What she doesn't understand, she will ask the questions.

I write this because this is the life of many people. Rushing, running, getting ready, family, work, friends, ect.

Democrats need to craft messages that speak to these people and to understand them. They need to have face to face/door to door.

The party also needs to get its act together in strategy and ideas.

The last good DNC chair we had, Howard Dean, knew this. And that was the last time the party was successful.

Why Does the Liberal, Democratic Establishment Hate Progressives? Seriously

I've seen this fighting for well over a year. The Liberal 'Establishment' (for lack of a better title), or New Democrats, ect., have been fighting with Progressives for so long. I understand the argument during the Primaries but, it is still going on today.

It is like the Liberal Establishment supporters hate Progressives as much as Republicans.

There is this anger or rage and I don't get it.

I tend to be a Progressive and have supported many of the ideas long before Bernie Sanders became a national name. And I was inspired by his run. I have had my problems with the New Democrats/Establishment. I just did not agree with the moderate/republican lite policies. I voted and stuck with democrats but, wished they would move back to their roots. And I did not agree with their squishy responses to Republican bullying.

I wanted the party to be more confident, move away from their privatization and Wall Street love affairs and get back to the main street and everyday people approach and concerns. To fight corporate consolidation, big business bullying, income inequality, ect. and do it strong and proud. Not run away and hide from confrontation and who the democrats proudly were for decades when they were the party of choice in this country.

I personally do not see that as a bad thing or a reason for Liberal democrats/establishment democrats to dislike progressives over.

Please don't be defensive or angry. I am just curious to understand

Saudi Arms Deal with Trump Fake

Apparently there is no Arms Deal and it's all BS:

Per Talking Points Memo:

'The story comes from Bruce Riedel, a longtime CIA and national security official, now at Brookings. The Potemkin deal turns out to be remarkably similar to the Trump jobs announcements we’ve grown accustomed to. Trump takes a bunch of jobs or investments which either already exist or have already been announced and rebrands them as new economic growth driven by Trump Power. In this he usually has a compliant and complicit CEO, happy to go along with the charade to curry favor with the US President.

Here’s what Riedel discovered …

I’ve spoken to contacts in the defense business and on the Hill, and all of them say the same thing: There is no $110 billion deal. Instead, there are a bunch of letters of interest or intent, but not contracts. Many are offers that the defense industry thinks the Saudis will be interested in someday. So far nothing has been notified to the Senate for review. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the arms sales wing of the Pentagon, calls them “intended sales.” None of the deals identified so far are new, all began in the Obama administration.'

Let Us Stop Insulting and Blaming Each Other

I saw a friend of mine on Facebook post to Bernie Supporters that if you like Bernie you may as well vote Trump in 2020.

I am so sick and tired, as well as saddened, by this stereotype and nonsense.

I was a passionate Bernie supporter in the primaries. I still hold Bernie is high esteem. But, during the general election I supported Hillary. I never hated Hillary or thought her evil. And I cried alot on election night. I actually still feel a pain in my heart over her loss.

I have been a lifelong Democrat. I am now a Grandmother and ever since I could vote, even before I could vote, I was a Democrat. I never felt a liking for the Republican party.

I remember living in a New Deal America as a child in the 60s. And in my 20s discovered and developed a lifelong admiration for FDR. I read alot of books on the Great Depression and FDR. I felt he was the best president we had. No, he was not perfect. But, name a person who was or is. But, to me, FDR did so much for the country, for average people and to put restrictions on the abuses by the rich and powerful who exploited the average person. The policies of the New Deal paved the way for the middle class, for fairness and create a society that cared about its people.

I voted and supported Bill Clinton in the 90s. But, he did upset with his move to the right and doubling down on Neoliberalism. His goal was to co-opt the republicans to weaken them. I understood that. I also understood that in the Reagan era, the country was enthralled with conservatism at the time. The harsh crime bills at the time was as much part of the demand of the people as it was the prison industry. Same with Welfare Reform. DADT.

I desperately hoped Hillary would run in 2004. But, I did not support her in 2008. I was all about my own senator, Barack Obama. But, again, my lack of support did not have to do with 'hating Hillary'.

And my support for Bernie Sanders did not have to do with 'hating Hillary'.

While I disagree with many of Hillary's New Democrat thinking and ideas, I always admired her as a person. I always felt she was so brave. She put herself in the line of fire as an independent, thinking, strong woman who would not be a yes woman with the adoring gaze at her husband while shutting up. She was her own person and she got the hate and vitriol from the right, from the press and from average people because she was so brave and took the stand that a woman had a right to her opinions and to be more then a arm ornament.

She went out and braved a run for senator and proved herself to be a hell of a senator. She earned the respect of even the republican senators while serving.

And while she lost her dream as first woman President, I do believe she will be considered one of the most important people, not just important woman but, people, of American History.

All this being said, I just cannot understand why some democrats think if you did not support Hillary in the primaries you hate the party and hate Hillary. Why can't you support someone who you agree with their ideas and thinking and support your party? Why can't you be a democrat and long for it to make needed changes? Or to be critical of certain policies and thinking in your party without being thought Not a Democrat?

I was brought up to be able to voice your opinion. To see things you think need to change or are wrongheaded, discuss it and not be considered anti or against something. I see things that need to be discussed in an adult manner, debated civilly about things that need to change in the party. I don't think that makes me Not a Democrat.

To close your eyes and just go along, not voicing some things that you feel are wrong or in need of change, to be a good solider, is to me being so republican. Democrats have always fought, disagreed, yelled and screamed. In the 1930s, Will Rodgers, a famous comic in the movies and folksy guy, said he was not a member of an organized party. He was a democrat.

So, why now a days do people think in order to be a good democrats you have to be go along and not critique anything? Traditionally be a good democrat is to argue. ha!

What I want is for the Hillary supporters to stop seeing Bernie supporters as traitors and evil and not good democrats. I want Bernie supporters to stop seeing Hillary supporters as Wall Street loving Elites who want the party to be moderate republican lite. Both sides are good democrats. both sides have a right to want what they feel is best for the party and to break the conservative hold on the country.

Its okay for Bernie supporters to like Hillary and vice versa. It's okay for people to support a candidate they like who may not be the candidate you like. That is what the Primaries are all about afterall.

We have serious threats to our democracy and country from outside our party.
