Biden has many advantages, one being that he's sane.

There’s an exchange in the 1980’s film ‘Manhunter’ (the first movie based on a novel featuring Hannibal Lecter) that keeps coming to mind as I observe the events of this election.

In the film, FBI agent Will Graham is talking to an imprisoned Lecter, who he caught.

Lecter says to him (paraphrase) : “you must think you’re smarter than me, since you caught me.”

To which Graham replies :”I’m not smarter than you, Dr. Lecter. But I do have advantages over you. One of them is that I’m sane.”

Now Biden, is, in fact, smarter than Trump. But in terms of cold politics, I just have to think one of his biggest advantages is that he’s obviously a sane, emotionally mature, adult.

This was highlighted in the recent debate, which sent Trump nosediving in the polls. It’s a given that partisans on the left and right saw whatever they wanted to see. But I suspect the average person not into politics who watched any portion of the debate basically thought “wow! Trump’s an obnoxious nut! I’d rather not see him in charge any longer.”

I’ll go further and say Trump’s increasingly erratic behavior - “Arrest Hillary! Arrest everyone! Make every day Trump day!” - isn’t helping him either.

I watched Trump. He looks weaker to me.

I Just watched the clips of Trump leaving WR and entering the White House. He looks weaker to me and I think gives the impression of being slightly deflated.

His base is of course going to be ecstatic and claim that he’s invincible, l but I don’t think this is going to play especially well to undecideds. I suspect they won’t see “strength” so much as “putting on an act.”

Expand the Court

The mantra from every Democrat should be “Expand the Court. The Republicans have blatantly abused the system. Expand the Court”

I get that some people think that’s a fantasy. Guess what? Even six years ago the idea of Donald Trump as a serious Presidential candidate was a fantasy.

In two party politics, one party’s unified party line can become conventional wisdom very quickly.

The Republicans have abused the system. Expand the Court.

If or when Roe is overturned.

If or when Roe is overturned, every Democratic House and Senate Candidate needs to pledge to undo the filibuster and pass a national reproductive rights bill ASAP.

Biden needs to announce he'll pack the court if they ram a replacement

Biden needs to announce now (or tomorrow at latest) he’ll pack the Supreme Court if a replacement for RBG is picked before the elections.

Trump Supporters Tricked Into Shouting they want to Fellate Trump

Performance artist Vermin Supreme gets Trump supporters to publically chant they want to suck Trump’s c—-

Vulgar but funny. Possibly the final statement on Trump supporters.

Looking for all Trump Administration Employees who Turned Against Trump

Anyone have a complete list of all Trump Administration appointees who quit or left and publically turned against Trump?

The Four Kinds of Trump Supporters

Like many, I’ve spent a fair amount of time wondering why sizable numbers of Americans support the Presidency of a man as transparently unsuited to high office as Donald Trump.

I’ve tried really listening to Trump supporters on this. With VERY few exceptions, just about every one I’ve spoken with fits one of four categories:

1) Affluent cynics who care about nothing except getting their taxes cut. These are often well-educated people who’s entire politics are “I vote my wallet, first, second, and last.”

2) White identity types. “Why is it racist to ask for an NAAWP? Why is it racist for me to want a White History month? Why is it racist for me to love my White ancestry? Why do people hate me when i point out that Adolf Hitler made some valid arguments? Mean liberals are always calling me racist! Waaaaaah!!”

3) Religious fundamentalists : These are the people who claim to represent traditional godly morality, except when Trump pays porn stars for sex.

4) Stupid people : Unwise might be a better description than “stupid.” Not necessarily low IQ, per se - although there’s probably a correlation with that - but the type of willfully stupid people who believe that Bill Gates invented Coronavirus in a lab, protests against police brutality are a “Masonic psyop” and that Trump is our only hope against the Bankers/Illuminati/Secret Fluoridation Conspiracy.

That mostly covers it, as far as I can tell. If anyone here can identify other broad categories of Trump supporters, I’m interested in their thoughts.

When and how did you figure out that American Conservatism was a scam?

I’ve been reading some columns by reformed Republican and former Wall Street Journal and Weekly Standard columnist Max Boot where he urges people to vote a straight Democratic Party ticket this year.

I can relate slightly to Max Boot - I was active in the College Republicans and even had a leadership position on a conservative campus newspaper that spawned the career of one or two of today’s Republican pundits.

It’s a source of embarrassment to me to this day.

I was about twenty when I figured out the GOP is, at least at a national level, a colossal scam which largely operates by harnessing ethnonational and religious resentments in the service of deficit-funded tax cuts geared to benefit the wealthy. This became clear to me back in the 90’s, when members of the LGBT community, not “Globalists”, Latino immigrants, and Muslims, were actively presented by Republicans as subversive, scary forces. I can still remember how heavily opinion pieces about the insidious “gay agenda” were pushed by people who privately admitted to me they could care less about the issue but it was a good way to “scare up” the religious Christian vote.

Nowadays, I try to look at my conservatism as a youthful indiscretion.

When did you realize American Conservatism was a hateful scam?

Maybe the truth really is out there! (New details on Pentagon UFO studies emerge)

Two very interesting, almost science-fiction sounding articles appeared in today’s New York Times about the U.S. Government’s studies of UFO phenomena.

Apparently, a program was begun in 2007 to research UFO’s.

“Hovering 50 feet above the churn was an aircraft of some kind — whitish — that was around 40 feet long and oval in shape. The craft was jumping around erratically, staying over the wave disturbance but not moving in any specific direction, Commander Fravor said. The disturbance looked like frothy waves and foam, as if the water were boiling.”

“For years, the program investigated reports of unidentified flying objects, according to Defense Department officials, interviews with program participants and records obtained by The New York Times. It was run by a military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, on the fifth floor of the Pentagon’s C Ring, deep within the building’s maze.

The Defense Department has never before acknowledged the existence of the program, which it says it shut down in 2012. But its backers say that, while the Pentagon ended funding for the effort at that time, the program remains in existence. For the past five years, they say, officials with the program have continued to investigate episodes brought to them by service members, while also carrying out their other Defense Department duties.”

Sen. Harry Reid (among others) was involved in the program.
