DU spell check window will not close.

For a couple of days, every time I logoff DU, there is an open DU spell check window open. It's not a big deal, I just close the window. It's simply irritating and suggests an underlying problem.

I use an Acer PC. I have both shut down and restarted, neither worked.

Any suggestions?

Congressman Rick Crawford (R, Ark) sues the US demanding a pay raise.

The Representative from Arkansas' 1st District has sued the US saying he is due a pay raise, despite Congress not authorizing one.

Rep. Crawford's district includes some of Arkansas' poorest areas. The median household income in the district is $50,223. I wonder how this will go over back home.

Any experience out there with VA benefits for assisted living?

My father was a Korean War combat veteran. Dad recently died and Mom has moved to an assisted living facility.

My brother has been in contact with "Patriot Angels" that is telling him that mom they get her a VA benefit to help pay the assisted living costs - for a fee.

I'm skeptical (I'm always skeptical) but "Patriot Angels" has a good BBB rating and more good reviews than bad.

Does anyone have experience with "Patriot Angels" or aware of such VA benefits?

I'm watching the vote in Michigan and watched protests at lunch. I can't decide if I'm angry or simply worried.

I understand the "uncommitted" movement is a protest vote but it is counterproductive. The "uncommitted" push is patently anti-Democratic and anti-Biden.

I heard a woman saying on MSNBC earlier that she regretted voting for Biden against Trump because Biden hadn't done something about Israel's actions in Gaza. The protester I saw at noon with a sign that read "Genocide Joe Must Go" sent me over the edge.

Politics is a zero-sum game. Anything that weakens Biden strengthens Trump, even if it only means that Democratic voters stay home. If the protesters are unhappy with Biden, do they think things would be better under Trump?

It's embarrassing but I did it again. I voted in the Republican primary.

Primaries are open in Arkansas. I voted in the Republican primary because that's where local elections will be decided and there are no contested elections in my area in the Democratic primary (unless you count the five people other than President Biden running for President - three if whom, I have never heard of).

We have a State Senate race where the more nearly sane Republican incumbent is being challenged by a nutcase preacher who is very extreme. I had to vote for the least bad alternative.

I'll vote a straight Democratic ballot in November but I had to do what I can in the primary.

I'm getting ready for Mom's estate sale after her move to assisted living.

I spent a good part of the day putting her "collectable plates" in their original boxes.

She loved the things and thought them a good investment. I found a few of the sales receipts from when they were purchased up to fifty years ago. I then checked eBay. Most are selling for 50% or less than what she paid for them.

My theory is that the target demographic has died off.

Question for NY lawyers about today's judgment against Trump.

I assume Trump will appeal. Is he required to post a supercedeas bond to stop execution?

My request concerning the Arkansas Chief Justice election.

I am still undecided for whom to vote but I am clear who to vote against.

Barbara Webb is a Republican hack that will do Sarah Sander's bidding at every turn.

If you have a preference for whom to vote for, I'd love to hear it.

I "inherited" my late father's two Shih Tzus about a month ago.

We got them to the vet yesterday. They are remarkably healthy for 12 year-old dogs. The only real issue was hair in their eyes causing discharge and matting. They have also been licking their paws, again probably because of long hair.

There are no dog groomers in the immediate area and few anywhere reasonably near. The short answer is that we are weeks from a groomer appointment and something had to be done.

I managed to trim around the eyes and feet. It doesn't look bad for having been done by a lawyer and not a groomer. At least I can see their eyes and they can see now.

I brushed one of the wee beasties without incident but the other objected. I have managed to stanch the bleeding.

I collected my inheritance this afternoon.

My father recently died. My mother wanted shed of his two little Shih Tzus. So, we brought them home today.

Our dogs seem to have accepted them into the pack and they are loving the attention they have missed during Dad's decline.

They're sweet little dogs and will have a comfortable life. We will have two more members to an already too large collection of cats and dogs.
