when a white haired lady stopped to comment. I braced for what was coming. After all, I'm in southwest Arkansas and am seriously outnumbered.
To my surprise, she proceeded to tell me what a danger Trump is to the country. Turns out, her daughter lives in Portland and has been attending the protests.
Suddenly, I feel less outnumbered.
This is my 5000th post. I've lost track of how long I have been on DU - at least four years.
I am so thankful for DU. As someone in ruby red Arkansas, I sometimes think DU is my only link to sanity. I sincerely enjoy interacting with my fellow DUers (at least most of the time).
Thank you to the DU administrators and all my DU friends that I have never met. None of you know the good you have done for me. You have made me smile when I really needed it. More importantly, you have assured me that I am not alone.
Thank you all.
Posted with the permission of the author is a link to a commentary by attorney Ricardo Woods of Mobile, Alabama published in the on-line publication of DRI (Defense Research Institute), an organization of civil litigation defense attorneys - about as establishment as it gets.
I will not attempt to add to Mr. Woods' commentary other than to say it is a moving account of being black in American - no matter how successful.
I do not engage in social media outside DU. Please post this link elsewhere.
