Prosperity gospel followers, the whole damn lot.

Someone please tell me again what year I missed when some new chapters of the Bible dropped down out of the heavens that tell us to worship the money changers and elect them as our leaders instead of running them off.

(thanks, EarlG)

Church visits for Republicans are nothing more than campaign stops.

I hold not one ounce of sympathy for them.

I hope every single one of them that voted for him shits their pants from raw fear. Rethugs just can't seem to avoid getting the big head when they win, completely lose all moral values, and then plow ahead like a runaway train.

Republicans spent around 40 years lying and cheating their way into total control of government, then totally blew it by allowing Trump to be even nominated. They could have stopped it and we would have a very complacent America with a Bush III, Cruz or Rubio for example for president and with the same destruction of government or worse.

In that light, we best hope we can gain from exposing his criminal behavior and begin resetting the system in 2021.......

When You Can Vote in Your State's Primary or Caucus - AARP

When You Can Vote in Your State's Primary or Caucus
Citizens over 50 will play pivotal role in who will be on the ballot in November
by Dena Bunis, AARP, January 13, 2020

Voters should remember that more than the presidency will be at stake when they go to the polls this year:

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for election. Democrats control the House by a margin of 232 to 198, with one independent member and four vacancies.

Of the 100 U.S. Senate seats, 35 are up for grabs. Republicans now control the Senate, 53 to 45, with two independent senators who align with the Democrats.

Governors will be chosen in 11 states. Currently, 26 governors are Republicans and 24 are Democrats.

Thousands of state-level senators and representatives, judges and local officials will be voted in or out of office as well.

In some states, voters will be going to the nominating polls twice — once for a presidential primary and once to pick candidates for other federal and state offices. For example, in New York, voters will cast ballots in the Democratic primary April 28 but vote for down-ticket nominees June 23. And even though the Iowa caucuses are first when it comes to the presidential contest, the state will have a primary for all other offices June 2.

Moment baby daughter's new hearing aids are turned on
06 Dec 2019

Watch video here: https://www.bbc.com/news/av/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-50690345/moment-baby-daughter-s-new-hearing-aids-are-turned-on

A father has shared the moment he turns his daughter's hearing aids on in the morning. Paul Addison, from Harrogate, tweeted a video of his four-month-old Georgina reacting to her mother's voice.

Georgina was diagnosed as severely deaf in September and wears a hearing aid in each ear. Mr Addison said: "You use these hearing aids and it's like the lights have been switched on."

Seeing joy in a child is truly universal.

The Islamic State welcomes death of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani

Qasem Soleimani: Why his killing is good news for IS jihadists
By Jeremy Bowen Middle East editor, Baghdad
10 January 2020

Read here: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-51021861

(snips)
The Islamic State (IS) group has welcomed the death of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, the head of the elite Quds Force.

In a statement, it described the general's demise as an act of divine intervention that benefitted jihadists. However, it made no mention at all of the US, which carried out the deadly drone strike against Soleimani in Baghdad on 3 January.

President Donald Trump's decision to assassinate Gen Soleimani set off a chain of consequences - one of the first was on the unfinished war against jihadists.

Almost immediately the US-led coalition fighting IS suspended operations in Iraq. The US and its allies announced that their main job was now defending themselves. From a military point of view, they probably had no choice.
+++++
IS militants have something else to celebrate. When Mr Trump decided to kill Soleimani they were gifted the spectacle of one of their enemies, the US president, assassinating another.

So much winning........

How many times do we have to repeat this: Elections have consequences.

Yes. Mom and dad had on on the back porch and I helped mom.....

run clothes through and hang them on our clotheslines. This was mostly in the 50s and stretching my memory, but I believe I got a hand caught in it once but mom hit the wringer release real fast and stopped it. There were many horror stories about ladies getting hair caught in those things.

Those machines actually were a luxury to many folks in our little farm town so many just used a washboard in a tub.

Edit: I recall they were hard on buttons and some zippers if not ran through with care.

I believe there are several of them hanging around here.

Low/medium post counts, usually no journal and almost always posting or responding with weird questions, as if looking for answers they can carry off and use elsewhere.

Atticus, stepping back from the brink, I fell we must somehow begin reversing.....

the polarization and division of our society based on political beliefs. Things didn't used to be this way and I remember when politics was rarely mentioned - perhaps until Nixon came along. Before then, we were divided enough already along racial, cultural and economic lines.

Will the day come when for every transaction in our lives we have to stop people and ask "are you a Democrat or Republican?" before moving forward and get our groceries, have our car fixed or get legal, medical and accounting work done?

In essence, you've asked the question "are there any good Republicans?" If we could put politics aside for a moment, yes a great many of them are good - - meaning good carpenters, electricians, scientists, brain surgeons and store clerks, and participants in community.

But that requires removing all the political labels the dividers have attached to the whole of our existence.

It's up to us to stop this slow intrusion of politics into every aspect of our daily lives and return to a nation of reasonable unity. If we don't, in the long run we will self-destruct. To use a trite, well-worn expression, at some point we have to ask "am I a part of the problem or part of the solution?"

Unfortunately, all the solutions I have to offer will never happen within the foreseeable future with the possible exception of events causing total global calamity that would force the whole of humanity on their knees with humility.

This should not be allowed while using public funding.

As reprehensible, immoral and repulsive as it may be, what tRump says is protected in America by our Constitution unless it's proven he incites violence and someone takes him to court for doing so. That said.....

What's just as offensive to me is a U.S. president using public tax funds to enable this behavior and to any reasonable person, it would surely be an impeachable offense. If he insists on behaving this way in a public setting and using the bully pulpit for fascist politics, he should pay for his travel and security and reimburse the Treasury for lost work time. That would put a stop to this bullshit.

There also is the issue of tRump violating his oath of office in that he should execute his Constitutional duties on behalf of all Americans, not a select few. In essence what's he's implying is that some 60 to 70 percent of Americans are not worthy of even having a president. On this basis, in a rational world he would be removed from office either by impeachment or execution of the 25th Amendment.

I would like to see provisions in future budgets that prevents politicians from using public funds for travel and security purposes for political campaigns. Just tighten the purse strings until it's impossible to do so, thereby returning our politicians to being true public servants.

I am indeed an idealist and a dreamer.

I suspect Harry and Meghan feel the UK no longer represents their values...

with Brexit looming with its Tory xenophobia and Islamophobia, at least five more years of Tory rule to worsen inequality and disregard climate change.......things I believe they are repulsed by.

One of the best results is that it's a huge slap in the face of Rupert Murdoch.

I'm glad for them and wish them well .....
