White racist privileged supremacists are really good at gaslighting communities into thinking that their positions should not be met with the utter contempt they deserve, because they are male pale stale and privileged. They have pulled this off for so long they are rather bewildered that in 2021, people are telling them to do one, that their fascistic tendencies are no longer up for polite debate as if they should ever have been a real thing. This week has been a shocker in the UK on so many levels. I was listening to our not very illustrative Foreign Secretary Raab today on Marr and he denied that the fishing industry are having any significant issues getting the fish they are still allowed to catch to their markets in Europe. In the face of all evidence to the contrary he decided live on the BBC that he would just deny the evidence of his eyes and ears and lie.

They lied to get the fishermen to vote overwhelmingly for Brexit. They were conned into believing that ruling the waves again could be an actual thing in a 21st century global economy, and now as their goods lay rotting at the ports, well, at least the fish are happy.



This was always going to happen. It is the same with Trump and the republicans, all gaslight, bluster and bollocks. That anyone ever thought that these privileged wankers could make a success of Brexit is beyond me. No strategies, no structures, no planning, no effective governance, just a strapline as ridiculous as we are Empire and Rule Britannia – that should do it chaps…

Now don't get me wrong. This is a pandemic. People would have died anyway even there was an administration that was competent and cared. So let us be generous to Javanka, President Cheeto, The Stepford Veep and all of their enablers and say that as America knocks on the door of 400,000 deaths, 50% would have occurred anyway... that means they killed 200,000 of their fellow citizens, because they did not care enough to even try. And I think I am being very generous.

Let me tell you a story of an interaction I had today. An internal applicant has applied for a job on one of my teams, it would be a significant jump for her internally, but her previous employment history indicates that she is certainly qualified to be interviewed for the post. Due to the current lock down I have delayed recruitment and requested she be seconded for three months to me and when our recruitment freeze is over she should be able to demonstrate to the business that the proposed jump is worth while.

In conversation with her manager today, he decided FOR HER that she was not ready for this post, not because of her skills set, but because the STRESS OF HER HOME LIFE coupled with the NEW JOB would be too much of a strain for her. Excuse me? What now? So a woman decides to apply for a job, that she has the skills set to do well, and has done in the past, and her manager tries to put me off cause he thinks he is somehow responsible for her supposed stress levels. Good grief. I have no doubt that his intentions where honourable in his own head. I do not believe he was trying to steal an opportunity from her for any nefarious reason. He was doing patriarchal patronisation for what he felt where valid reasons, without realising he was doing it.

My response

That's lovely. A woman can make her own decisions about the level of stress they can handle, if she is up for it, my job is to support her to make it a success, not limit her because of the stress she has to manage outside of business.
