EU launches legal action against UK for breaching withdrawal agreement

Source: The Guardian

The EU has launched legal action against the UK after Boris Johnson failed to respond to Brussels’ demand that he drop legislation that would overwrite the withdrawal agreement and break international law.

Ursula von der Leyen, the European commission president, announced that the UK had been put on formal notice over the internal market bill tabled by the prime minister last month.

Brussels had given Johnson until the end of September to drop the contentious clauses in the draft legislation, and Von der Leyen said the deadline had lapsed.

By seeking to unilaterally change the terms of the agreement signed last year with Brussels, the UK had failed to live up to its obligations to act in “good faith”, Von der Leyen said.

They don't care. They will not backdown irrespective of the impact on a post Brexit UK. The far right Empire throw backs who are now in charge fail to see that the longed for free and global Britain will become increasingly isolated from the rest of the world, as they breach international treaties and risk the Good Friday Agreement. For sure there is no way Biden or Congress will agree a trade deal with this government if they push ahead with this.

Watch this video of Biden going off on the Reagan S. Africa policy - tis a splendid thing!

Ladies and Gentleman the next President of the US, who does condemn supremacy.

Condemning white nationalism and supremacy is something he can never do

Think about it. Trump is the biggest fucking white supremacist in America. He always has been. He sees nothing wrong in being a racist or dividing the country on the lines of hate. He revels in the basest of bigotries and tropes. He is an intolerant, discriminatory, extreme, illiberal, narrow-minded narcissist. He is a morality and ethic free zone. He is as corrupt as he is unscrupulous. He is a cheating, crooked, dirty dealing malcontent, whose soul has been poisoned beyond repair by his wilful hate filled world view. All of these things he has in common with those he was asked to condemn at the debate.

To condemn the Proud Boys, or the Boogaloo’s, or the KKK, or the various militias, or the mass shooters who have already responded to his rhetoric in the deadliest of ways, is to condemn himself. They are him. He is them. Ugh.

It's not George Orwell writing the script any more. It's Lewis bloody Carroll.

This ludicrous, preening popinjay literally withdrew Brexit 'Party' candidates from Tory-winnable constituencies in order to get *exactly* this treaty signed in the first place. It's not George Orwell writing the script any more. It's Lewis bloody Carroll.

The “oven ready deal” was an international treaty — for the EU Commission, that is like the Bible.

Whilst the EU always acts in bad faith, all they are doing today is asking Boris to keep his promises.

It should never have been signed in the first place. twitter.com/bbckatyaadler/…

Further and further we go down the right wing rabbit hole of horror. Farrage literally voted for this in the EU Parliament.
There is no end in sight
