https://twitter.com/BettyBowers/status/1166027075465154560It's like saying: England ruled America in 1775 so England should get all the credit for the Apollo 11 Moon-launch in 1969.
Hehehe however in the fact free world of the pretend people... where they don't need know pesky facts.
It's all in the plan...
2020 will be the most polluted and expensive Presidential campaign in history.
Trump does not have a vision that can resonate with other than his core base and with the economy on the brink of a recession, a whole lot of ignorant that only care about their bank account, may well think twice before voting for him again. If Trump cannot bribe with the MAGA promises that have not born fruit he will inevitably go really dirty, and lie lie lie, it is all he can do
. There is nothing else there. He is like an empty vessel.
In a recent article in the New Statesman Todd May posed the following question...how do we preserve the norms of decency while resisting those for whom such norms are meaningless?
Democrats should do the opposite to those who have long lost their moral compass.... Tell the truth, swing from the heels, don't stop swinging and keep the message, strong, simple and easy to understand. After all as Harry Truman said: I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.
Conservatives: Gateway Politics for Racist Homophobes
Heh. Nature v Nurture. I have to say that I am sure there are plenty of children with low intelligence who do not grow up to be wankers... Your environment must surely help form your prejudices... although I am more than happy to accept that right wingers are not as clever a left wingers... evidence is clear, they hate experts....cause.
Step 4: Suppression of a Free Press
Indeed. But what are they are going to do about it. Steve Schmidt can highlight this, but he and his ilk helped build this... they broke it - they should fix it, but they do not know how to. Trump was always going to be the end result of republican strategy over the last 40 years.
We need to cancel the next G7. Let's resume them when Trump is gone
The biggest obstacle is US President Donald Trump, whose policies are antithetical to the goals of the G7 he wants America to work alone, to destroy the current global trading system, slash foreign assistance that helps address transnational challenges, ignore human rights, and doesnt believe climate change is real. When Trump attends, chances are high that he causes a diplomatic incident, like he did at the 2018 G7 when he threw a temper tantrum and insulted his Canadian host. The G7 is an annual long weekend of toddler day care for Trump.
--------
Canceling the next summit is not some ridiculous recommendation it is a way to cope with the current realities and preserve a semblance of American credibility abroad. Of course, the United States wont retreat from the world while Trump is president, and all these leaders will continue to deal with Trump. This just isnt a productive setting now, and the good that is achieved on certain issues at the G7 can be achieved through other means. And if it seems fanciful to imagine Trump cancelling the meeting, just remember that he canceled a trip to Denmark because they wouldnt sell him Greenland.

It is a compelling argument, but how would Trump graft to make the big bucks next year if it got cancelled????
The Dunkirk Spirit
On the river today. A boat that was part of the flotilla that sailed to Dunkirk to evacuate the soldiers. You can tell by the insignia in the St Georges Cross flag. You do not get to fly it if you did not do it. Bloody marvellous!
Bull Dog Spirit. Look at how tiny it is but it crossed the channel to save our soldiers.
History Says, Don't Hope...But Then...
Words of wisdom from Ireland's greatest poet... he talks of a different time of course, but as with all great poets words inspire future generations in their own times of trouble IMO
Is peak trump behind us?
We are witness to him getting increasingly detached from reality as events and the subsequent spin that follows increase the absurdity of his tenure... A week in the Presidency is a whirlwind of complete bollocks, 90% of which is an act of self harm by Trump. He tweets and the dow swings 800 points (and not in a good way), he plays chicken in the trade war and is now having to walk it back. Everyone who is against him is a traitor. Living with such equal measures of paranoia and arrogance inside such a muddled mind must be knackering. He can't keep it up for much longer. Hopefully "peak Trump" is behind us.
PEAK TRUMP????

Hopefully it is all down hill from here to 2020... I do not see how much more absurd it can get?
