Trump Isn't Even the Best at Being Long-Winded

Dictators (and wannabe dictators like Trump) love to talk for hours and hours. Part of the reason is that they have a captive audience of their own making. In Trump’s case, it’s because he has his own MAGA cult. Such is the way of malignant narcissists. But I have some bad news for the president: He was about five hours and eight minutes shy of the longest speech by the late Cuban dictator and long-winded master Fidel Castro, who rambled on for more than seven hours at a Communist Party Congress in Havana in 1986. (Castro also held the Guinness Book of Records for the longest speech at the United Nations, in 1960, clocking in at four hours and 29 minutes, according to the Independent.)

And if Trump wants to beat the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez, he’d have to talk for eight hours longer than he did Saturday at CPAC. Trump’s not even the best at being long-winded and unhinged. Other people even did that better. What a loser.

Hehe. I wonder how many in the audience snuck out rather than listen to the loser rant?

Is this the Game Changer: Cohen-Trump Pardon Talks?

WaPo reports that Cohen was questioned by the House Intelligence Committee about whether Trump discussed a pardon with Cohen. Is this the possible “game changer” to which Lanny Davis referred on the Rachel Maddow show?

From WaPo:

Lawmakers are investigating whether President Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen was involved in any discussions about possible pardons — which they view as a potentially ripe area of inquiry into whether anyone sought to obstruct justice, people familiar with the matter said. . . .

Time will tell but I have a feeling that this is going to be a huge nail in the Trump presidency coffin

Is No Religion The New Religion?

According to a YouGov poll in 2016, here in the United Kingdom, if you are British and under 40 you are far more likely to say you have no religion that to say you are Christian, Jewish, Muslim or of any other faith, add to this the fact that if you do not have a religion there is a 95% likelihood your children won’t have one either.

In January 2013 37% of the population of Great Britain reported having no religion. By February of 2015 that had gone up to 42%, and, in a survey undertaken last month with YouGov using the same questions, the figure had increased to 46%.
(EDIT: I am sure it is higher today….. but these are the latest stats I could find)

Even though we see an increasing demographic reporting having no religion, of those stating they have no religion only a minority of people were certain there was no God. Most people polled think that there may well be something out there.

Only 13% of nones hold anti-religious views in the style of Richard Dawkins. A quarter take part in some spiritual activity in the course of a month, and 11% call themselves “spiritual”. But 99% do not take part in any religious group or form of collective worship, and many have a negative view of religious leaders and institutions.

The data seems to suggest that as many describe themselves as spiritual rather than religious, that belief structures in ‘something else’ are surviving despite religious frameworks and structures rather than because of them.

So, no religion, within a spiritual framework, is the new religion? If so is this a bad thing? Can you have a more fulfilled belief structure outside the more rigid and legalistic structure of organised religion?

Such a catchy slogan for Nazi's

He is talking to literal Nazi's every time he flaps his gums with that slogan and he knows it.

Fox News guest may have set all-time record for crazy with rant about AOC's Green New Deal causing..

...cannibalism

Katherine Timpf, a National Review reporter, launched into a passionate rant about Ocasio-Cortez on “The Greg Gutfeld Show.”

“AOC has completely lost her marbles,” Timpf argued. “I think she’s living in bananaland.”

Less than a minute later, she had escalated to the point where Ocasio-Cortez’s “bullsh*t” was resulting in cannibalism.

Good grief - although such an extrapolation smells of desperation - not a bad thing

''Sometimes I think no-one can actually be THAT stupid''

I do not think it possible to over estimate his stupidity. I am still bewildered that such a stupid man is president.
