None of this is an accident. Women’s sexual agency is a key voting issue for Bible-belt republicans who believe that women and girls should not be allowed to choose whether and when they bear children. The Republican Party stands or falls on this issue, as does what democratic credibility remains to the Trump regime.
There is enough evidence to suggest that without the promise to put forced-birth advocates like Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, all the Russian bots in the world could not have sent the Hog-Emperor of Rape Culture to the White House.

And now that ancient injustice is building towards its own dreadful denouement. The struggle between democracy and tyranny and the struggle by women against male violence are one and the same. They always have been, and the Kavanaugh case makes it clear. And it is clear, also, that, there is a decision ahead of every one of us.

This is an excellent article - so difficult not to copy and paste it all!!! It is well worth the time to read all of it..... rather long I am afraid - but worth it... Who is the law supposed to protect? Is it more important to protect women and from violence, or men from consequences?

And then we all thought he would lose cause he was gay....

How modest is modest enough? How far are they planning to take this?
From the GOP over the last few days we have heard that women do not know what rape is, that women should not be believed, and boys will be boys. Go to a party? Get what you deserve dammit.
This can longer be dismissed as a few loons on the far right digging a hole so far down that scrambling out of it seems rather problematic. This is the new normal. The GOP is slapping this idiocy on the back and proudly shouting this is what WE stand for. Rape is only rape if we say so by our definition. Women live with the consequences of sexual violence whether you like it or not. Now to support this lunacy of denying women a voice and justice the implication from the GOP is clear - if you are a victim of sexual violence ladies, you must have provoked it.
What were you wearing? Was your skirt above the knee? Oh, no. What were you thinking? It is all your fault.
What were you drinking? What do you mean you didn’t stick to coffee, that you fancied a couple (or more) beers? Oh, no. What were you thinking? It is all your fault.
You went to a party? Well boys will be boys. What were you thinking? It is all your fault.
Did you actually go on a date? What with someone you knew and thought you could trust? But let me guess your skirt was above your knee and you fancied a couple of beers? Well there you go then, you only have yourselves to blame.
If you get raped and get pregnant go home sit down and count your blessings. After all, if you had not put yourself in harm’s way by leaving your house you would not have been raped right? You would not have got pregnant, right? So really it is your own fault, right?
How far does the right really want to take this? How modest would be modest enough for the American Taliban? I can hazard a guess and it is not a good look. You see ladies how you behave is the cause of all the problems. These good ole boys are just trying to save you from yourselves. So, I suggest you all comply, do what the good men want and get yourselves in that Burka post haste. Because I really do not think anything less modest will modest enough. Even then I am not sure. Alternatively, every single woman needs to turn round, say hell no, and vote these nutters out.

Would you kill one to save many?
Thou shalt not kill. Right? Death is death. Murder is murder.
You know the old question. If you could go back in time and kill Hitler before he came to power, would you? I think most people, unless you are a Nazi, would say yes. It would turn you into a murderer of course but most people would be able to justify those actions to themselves.
But what about the situation where perceived future action is just guess work? How do you define many? 5, 10, 100? How many lives saved would be worth it to turn you into a murderer? Or is murder never justified?
Could you kill one to save 100 children from your home town? But would you do the same if the children lived on another continent?
What if the one was virtuous and the many were naughty?
What if the many were of a different faith construct or race from you and the one reflected your belief systems and ethnicity?
Would you kill one to save many? Maybe morally, ethically and intellectually you could justify it. But then the next question of course is, could you? Could you kill one to save many?
They have always been just a bunch of crooks
