As I write this it is 2230 in my corner of the planet and I sit alone listening to the fireworks outside. I am using my time alone this eve to reflect on the last year, much of which has been horrid, as many as you know, and some of which has been absolutely splendid. But I am still alone on NYE and that is lonely. I have much loved friends and family, but with Omi being nasty in London - that was never going to happen. So for all of us, for whatever circumstance find ourselves alone - a DU spirited hug of marvelousness seems like a plan.

Serious question. It is 2024 and Biden and Trump go head-to-head in the general. Biden kicks Trumps arse… I mean seriously destroys him in the popular vote and wins the electoral college by a comfortable margin. So far so hopefully normal. But with all the anti-democratic shenanigans going on at far right gop state level in purple states to take over the entire electoral systems and bastardised the integrity of the election system – what happens if they choose to ignore the vote of the people and send Trump electoral college electors to Washington instead? What happens if enough states do this that the electoral votes go to Trump even though he did not win them? Presumably it would go to SCOTUS, which is hardly reassuring, or maybe not?
I know that is a hypothetical q at the mo but they are actively working on this plan right now. So, what would happen next?!?! How would the system work to stop those democracy stealers?

Have to self isolate. Happy Xmas.
Sooooo, spent all day yesterday in several meetings with a chap who today tested positive. In theory, that should not mean I have to self isolate. Lateral flow tests everyday should keep me moving, but have you met London? When he called me today I masked up and went on a lateral flow hunt in my area - none to be found... *sigh*. So ordered a PCR test to be delivered - the nearest testing centre is 4.8 miles away and I am not allowed to use public transport, so that was not going to work. Problem, depending when I get the results of the PCR - Xmas and bank holidays suggest next Wednesday at the earliest, means I am stuck in the flat. I cannot order the lateral flow tests online until the PCR test comes through, so even if I get a negative from the PCR it will be new year weekend before i get any lateral flow tests, if I am lucky. Basically I will have to self isolate from yesterday for 10 days to be sure not to be a germ bucket.
London is filthy with Omi, but at least as of right now, no symptoms!
