Ron Johnson Against Vaccine Mandate, Unless Disease Is 'Incredibly Deadly'

Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) has said he is not in favor of vaccine mandates, though suggested an "incredibly deadly disease" could change his mind.

Johnson was speaking to Fox News' Brian Kilmeade, who was guest hosting Laura Ingraham's The Ingraham Angle on Friday, when he was asked about the possibility of requiring COVID vaccines.

There have been than 610,000 COVID-related deaths in the U.S. over the course of the pandemic, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), while there have been more than 34 million infections.

Johnson replied: "No, not unless there's some incredibly deadly disease. I mean, much higher infection-fatality rates than we have with COVID.

"We don't know the final infection-fatality rate but right now it's looking like it's not going to be much more than double a bad season of flu."

How many is enough for the death cult? I imagine that even if the world had a virus like I am legend running rampant they would sit behind their high walls and say the death toll is still not high enough...

Dominic Cummings's solution to the Irish border problem would have been disastrous

Cummings’s view is that had Vote Leave been running things from June 2016, the Irish border would have been “a minor issue in the negotiations” because the UK would have had more leverage: it wouldn't have weakened its hand by triggering Article 50 and it would have been clear that it would act unilaterally if anyone “dicked around babbling about [the Good Friday Agreement] etc”. “We’d have refused ANY checks anywhere & Ireland [would] not have dared build anything either,” he tweeted. This would have left the EU with the problem of how it protected the single market, he argues, suggesting that Macron would have insisted on checks between the Republic of Ireland and the single market or that Macron was bluffing and the EU might have lived with no checks at all.

Had the Benn Act not passed in autumn 2019, the approach to border checks would have been essentially much the same. “We'd have refused all checks/building anything either in Irish Sea or on land border, & seen how the cards fell,” he said. As for the chances of reaching a deal in those circumstances, his answer was “God knows”, which suggests that a deal was not his priority.

Now that we have the Cummings “solution” to the Irish trilemma, what should we make of it? First, the implication that the Republic of Ireland – whose people did not have a vote in the 2016 EU referendum – might be forced to leave the single market because of a decision made by the UK would go down extraordinarily badly with both the Republic and moderate nationalist opinion in Northern Ireland. It is easy to see how this could lead to a border poll in Northern Ireland in short order.

Second, it would severely damage UK/US relations, especially with President “I’m Irish” Biden. Even with Donald Trump in power, a trade deal would not get through Congress (not a concern for Cummings but a priority for many Brexiteers).

Third, if we are not checking our borders, we would be in breach of World Trade Organisation rules and an impediment to any future trade deals with anyone.

Fourth, it is surely inconceivable that the EU would enter into a zero tariffs, zero quotas trade deal with a third country which refused to address the subject of border checks (this is not a question of leverage but logic). This would have had a devastating impact on many sectors of our economy. His answers confirm that it was necessary for parliament to step in to prevent no deal (which is, I suppose, reassuring for those of us who sacrificed our parliamentary careers in the process).

Emphasis mine

I said from day one after Brexit that a wet border would be the only solution to the GFA. That we are ruled by a bunch of English nats that had no understanding of the politics on the island of Ireland, and more to the point, did not give a shit is truly disheartening.

Father of five dies after texting fiancee: 'I should have gotten the damn vaccine'

A 39-year-old father of five from Las Vegas has died from complications of COVID-19 after sending a text to his fiancee from the hospital saying, "I should have gotten the damn vaccine."

According to Jessica DuPreez, she and her fiance Michael Freedy, a Las Vegas casino worker, "wanted to wait just one year from the release (of the vaccine) to see what effects people had, but there was never any intention not to get it."

"That is a decision she said she will always regret," according to Las Vegas' Fox affiliate.

Emphasis mine

Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda... Call me cynical but I think the wait a year narrative is post covid kicking your family in the arse revisionism.. just sayin'

I don't think Javanka have thought this through

It is all over the headlines that the mendacious and plastic Kushner is leaving politics (LOL) to set up an investment firm in the Middle East – more pertinently in Israel & "Persian Gulf" countries. Now call me cynical but on the back of Thomas Barrack, one of Trumps best buddies, being collared for acting as foreign agent for the UAE, maybe just maybe, Jared tootling off to the middle east to try and benefit financially from the connections he made as ‘senior adviser’ to TFG is handing the DOJ a road map and co-ordinates to follow to all of the shady dealings and murky transactions of the Trump era.

This is brilliant. We all know that Jared is not that bright. Anything he has got is from nepotism and inherited privilege. In his own right he is very mediocre. Look at his track record over the last four years. Middle East Peace – how’s that working out in Gaza? Covid 19 response – 600k dead, and he can no longer set foot in his hometown because of his casual disregard of them during the first wave. Trying to prevent TFG wallowing in the big lie and starting a violent insurrection – yeah, nothing, nadda. And now he thinks he can take advantage of his contacts from the administration of doom to make some dollars? Grifters gotta grift, but without the protections afforded during the Trump era, grifters gonna realise grifting actions have repercussions in the real world. The DOJ must be rubbing their hands with gleeful anticipation.
