About Me

I am a Brit. I am a working class child of the troubles in Belfast who now lives a life of privilege. I am an anti-racist, progressive monster for truth. If I fail in being that monster, call me out....

Jeez Louise the real cost of inflation is through the roof...

Was in Waitrose this morning and bought a particular item from the essentials range. Last week this item was 1.99, today 2.50 - an increase in a week of 25%. How are people on a fixed income supposed to cope? I speak from a position of somewhat privilege, I have a good job, living in the centre of a city means public transport is readily available (no petrol costs) and my energy bills are traditionally very low and so the current increases in energy supply have not impacted as significantly as they will have with others. But what are people supposed to do? Food bank donations are down because people are tightening their own belts - Warm banks are being suggested so that those in energy poverty can pop in somewhere to keep warm in winter. You listen to people calling into radio shows who have had their electricity cut because they cannot feed the meter, wearing indoor coats, only bread and butter to eat... employed people that could not cope last year - and that was before the current shitshow allowed the energy and oil companies to boost profits for shareholders by increasing profits to unsustainable levels for half the country - what on earth are they going to do this year? Inflation at 9% - that would be bad enough - but it is way higher than that for those affected the most by it.

We need a plan or people are going to die, and we have an absent administration and a leadership race that is focused on who can be the most racist, homophobic, transphobic wanker to appeal to the Gammons and the Shires, rather than being serious about any of the issues facing the post Brexit Britain they have created. It is shocking.

It's true. He has buried Ivana on his golf course to cheat on taxes.

As a tax researcher, I was skeptical of rumors Trump buried his ex-wife in that sad little plot of dirt on his Bedminster, NJ golf course just for tax breaks.

So I checked the NJ tax code & folks...it's a trifecta of tax avoidance. Property, income & sales tax, all eliminated.

Because of course. Peak Trump.

This is just pure joy genius

A group of women all bought their husbands the same shirt and didn’t tell them...

How fantastic! Big smiles

Far right manoeuvres on both sides of the pond over the last decades has brought us closer to authoritarian rule that at time since the post world war 2 liberal settlement. The highway to hell that is fascism is littered with the corpses of those who did not overact, or as I would put - act - in a timely manner. We need to act, right now. Maybe it will not end up the way they plan, if we are lucky, but it is safer to overreact and be mistaken, than to be passive and complacent – and be right as human and democratic rights are stripped away. And lets face us we have not been overreacting - their overreach and power plays is very very clear...

But don't ''overreact'' people. Sheesh.

You couldn't make it up..

So, attempting to overthrow the US government gets you 6 months, and performing an abortion can get you life in prison or the death penalty. God bless America.

The absolute state of it.

Does anyone really believe that the Shires would vote for someone with Indian Heritage for PM?

Could the tory leadership race be more depressing? Liz Truss is an intellectual lightweight, a quisling and there is nothing more dangerous than a zealous convert to a cult. The cult of course that I refer to is the ERG Brexit. Sunak is also a right wing, pull up the drawbridge after me, typical selfish Tory of the right wing sort. That he is being portrayed as the left wing choice in the right wing press is a joke. This race is between two far right candidates who will continue the destruction of the union that has been gathering pace for the last 12 years.

Liz has already won this race and her tax policy is not what is going to do it. We know that the Tory party has been hijacked by UKIP Gammons - who have made it their life's work to stop any brown or black people landing on our shores. We know that the tory party membership are generally made up of far right deluded old people - who trend to the right of the MPs who represent them - and in this climate that is saying something. Do we really think a combined gammon and blue rinse of the shires brigade will vote in a person of Indian Heritage? Not for one minute do I think this a possibility. Although they are both awful they will pick to worst of the rotten bunch because they are far right cray cray racist nasty - and of course the polling proves this.

Good grief. Truss for PM? Trade war and UK PLC insolvency in 3..2...1...

Steve Bannon drank his own Kool aid & didn't realize a judge wouldn't buy his talk

"It's kind of remarkable," said Green. "It's a huge comedown for Bannon. You know, we started this process last October, when he was hit with a subpoena, vowing to 'go medieval' on his enemies, that was his quote. He said he would make it a 'misdemeanor from hell' for the Biden administration. But he wound up not even taking the stand in his own defense today, and a wound up with two guilty charges. So, I think it shows the bubble that he's been living in for the past six months, where you know, all the misinformation, all the kinds of things he has been propagating, I think he's sort of drank his own Kool-Aid in the end, and didn't understand, or didn't want to face the fact that he is in a court of law and that sort of thing isn't going to fly, and the judge made that clear, the jury made that clear."
"But one of the refrains I heard was that Bannon, until today, never faced accountability for his actions," continued Green. "If you remember, two years ago, he ducked criminal charges for his alleged involvement in a scheme to build a privately-funded border wall. But at the last minute, he finagled a pardon from Trump. I think he's gone on so far in life, being able to talk his way out of situations, and not really having to face a body like this that has real powers to hold him accountable, that he just didn't think through what it was he was doing. And I think you see the consequences of that with the verdict today."

Emphasis mine

Living the far right cray cray bubble of delusion gets a bit awkward when you face real world consequences - couldn't have happened to a nicer fella!

Lock him up..LOL

For the first time in over two years today I felt happy

Proper happy. Just enjoying life. No ifs, no buts, no maybes. Just happy. And it feels grander than a grand mans grand things.

That is all.

NC Bill 158 would make it legal to murder a pregnant woman who intends to get an abortion ...

if you are “defending the life of a baby”.

Emphasis mine

So, if I understand correctly, the far right cray cray, will be allowed to murder a pregnant person and de facto the foetus, to stop them having a termination? Even though this murder would kill the foetus, thereby making them an abortionist in fact, and therefore a murderer in the far right cray cray way of thinking. Someone please help me make this make sense. Circular firing squad meets far right patriarchy 101.

Call them what they are: Religious terrorists

Unqualified far right terrorists in the highest court in the Land. And the fact is that hideous excuse for a woman will be perfectly comfortable with the Dr getting death threats and her daughter being threatened, cause that is what fundamentalists do. Violence to meet their ends, oh and any ends justify the means to these lot. Plus they think the Dr is evil because they are religious fanatics.

They will never admit to their duplicity, lying and hypocrisy even as they see it out of the side of their eye. Their far right house of cards would collapse with even an iota of critical thinking skills.

Pack the court. Stat.
