East Point Police: 'Friends, family, loved ones are being killed by friends, family, loved ones'

Doors cannot stop this.
Without guns, you would probably just have hurt feelings after an argument or black eye after a fist fight.

The East Point Police Chief say 100% of the shooting deaths so far this year are by people who know their victims

EAST POINT, Ga. — East Point’s police chief is urging gun owners to take a look at gun deaths in his city right now, and then realize how volatile arguments with family and friends can be.
So far in 2022, 100% of the gun deaths in East Point have been committed by friends, loved ones, and acquaintances of the victims in arguments and disputes that, the chief said Wednesday, could have been solved without gunfire.
SNIP———
A nationwide study of the homicides in which investigators were able to identify whether there was a relationship between killer and victim found that in 2020, 79% of the killers knew their victims—and most of the homicides involved guns.

Metro woman with Alzheimer's arrested for domestic violence despite daughter not pressing charges

RIVERDALE, Ga. — A Clayton County woman with severe Alzheimer’s disease is behind bars after scratching her daughter during a confused episode, even though her daughter didn’t want to press charges.

Pamela Reynolds says she has been fighting to get her mother, Annie Reynolds, out of the Clayton County Jail since Friday after she says her mother was falsely arrested.
“She kept saying she didn’t want to go,” Pamela Reynolds told Channel 2?s Ashli Lincoln.

Police were called to the Reynolds home near Hwy. 138 and Taylor Rd. in Riverdale on Friday afternoon after 69-year-old Annie wandered away from the home and towards a busy intersection. After finding her mother incoherent and irate because of the Alzheimer’s, Pamela Reynolds says her mother scratched her and left marks on her arms.

She says Clayton County police saw those marks and, when paired with her mother’s erratic behavior, decided it was best to remove Annie from the home. “He said it was out of his control. He said the law states, when a person put their hands on you, they have to go to jail,” Pamela Reynolds explained.

Sometimes I'm still taken aback by the stupidity of right wingers

Some of these dumbasses are asking liberals to explain how Shinzo Abe was killed in a country with strict gun laws.
Huh? Clearly these folks do not understand how numbers work.

I wonder if "pro life" women understand that they have doomed themselves to have less health care

Abortion training is needed for certification for the specialty of OB/GYN. No one will want to complete a residency in a state that will result in not being able to get their certification.
About half of new physicians end up working in the state they completed their residency.
They just made sure that they decreased the amount of OB GYNS that will want to work in those areas.

I expect malpractice insurance will skyrocket to account for lawsuits that may arise. I’m reading stories of women being told to go home and return to the ER days later when they are in sepsis to get the “ mother’s life in danger exception”. This is not going to end well. Someone will die from Sepis before they are able to make it back to the ER.
I’m sure many physicians will leave instead of dealing with rising malpractice insurance, threats of arrest, threats of lawsuits by vigilantes and lawsuits from the mother’s family.

Not just OB GYNS. It’s going to have a ripple effect on many areas of medicine. Oncology, Rheumatology, we are already hearing about patients not being able to get Methotrexate.
We were already in a crisis in health care with not having enough providers. You just ensured that less providers will want to come to your state, continue to stay in your state , and probably decrease the amount of med students that choose OB/GYN as a specialty.

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face.

OMG, The new THOR movie is So Gay!

I did not look at reviews before I went to see it. I was pleasantly surprised. I figured right wing bigots would lose their shit. It’s rare that I praise a giant corporation. But way to go Disney!

Oh they are freaking out for sure 😆

13 year old arrested at pro choice protest

When the Gestapo comes for you.
Her charge? Yelling my body, my choice into a bullhorn. She violated wannabe king Desantis’ new noise ordinance law.

Just so we are clear, Why BG plead guilty

Keep in mind, that she is charged with
large-scale transportation of drugs

Experts have said any deal to release Griner would almost certainly require an admission of guilt by the American star, regardless of the facts. A source familiar with the strategy said that by pleading guilty, Griner gets that out of the way. And while it could complicate public reaction to her case, one source said the thought was to just get her home however possible and deal with the fallout when she returns.

Ryabkov noted that until Griner's trial is over, "there are no formal or procedural reasons to talk about any further steps.''

So if chump is eventually charged with a crime

How would the jury be protected? I imagine some may not want to serve on that jury out of fear. Is it possible to keep their identities secret?

A mother's warning: If you have white teen sons, listen up

This is an article from 2019. But a more recent article below made me think of it

A mother's warning: If you have white teen sons, listen up ...
By Sara Sidner, CNN

Joanna Schroeder has a warning for parents of teen and tween white boys: If you don't pay attention to their online lives, the white supremacists will.
They've studied the way that our young men interact online, and they have looked at what these boys need," she said. "And they have learned how to fill those needs in order to entice them into propaganda."

That's what she found when she asked her own teenager if they could go through some of his social media together. He was scrolling quickly, really quickly," she said. "It was so fast, and he slowed down, and I saw an image of Hitler and I stopped him, and I said, 'Wait, is that Hitler?'"

It was. A meme depicting Hitler and implying a time traveler would have tipped him off about the future to keep him alive had popped into the boy's Instagram suggestions.

"I know my kids understand Hitler, but as I scrolled through his [social media] I saw more memes that joked about the Holocaust and joked about slavery," Schroeder said. The impact, she said, seemed to be "desensitizing our kids to things we should be sensitive to."

Mom agonizes about how to reach her son, a man with a Buddha tattoo who turned to hate
By Sara Sidner, CNN
Updated 12:59 PM ET, Sun July 3, 2022

Provo, Utah (CNN)The first sign of trouble was brief. Just a couple of comments during the hustle and bustle of regular life.

Karen Amsden was chatting to her son in the driveway while picking up her grandchildren when she mentioned something about a quote by Anne Frank, one of the most famous victims of the Nazis who wrote a haunting diary before she was captured and murdered in the Holocaust.
"He just said something about, 'That's not even real. The Holocaust isn't real,'" Amsden recalled.
She thought her son was joking. Now she says it's clear he was not.
