If every fertilized egg is life, why don't Republicans legislate IVF

Anti-Abortion Hypocrisy Has Never Been Clearer

Anti-abortion activists and legislators have spent a lot of time, money, and political energy trying to convince Americans that fertilized eggs are human beings. Their belief that “life begins at conception” is supposedly why these lawmakers are passing legislation that bans abortion at six weeks (before most women even know they’re pregnant), and why some are against certain forms of birth control — because they believe that IUDs and the pill prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg.

But when Alabama State Senator Clyde Chambliss, a Republican, was asked recently if his state’s sweeping abortion ban would punish those at IVF clinics who discard embryos or fertilized eggs, he replied, “The egg in the lab doesn’t apply. It’s not in a woman. She’s not pregnant.”
And with that one sentence, the anti-abortion hypocrisy was exposed: The fight to end abortion has never been about when life begins, or protecting “babies”; it’s about controlling women and the anti-abortion movement’s legislative apathy toward IVF proves it.

.
SNIP
And that’s the rub — conservative legislators roll back abortion rights while ignoring the millions of embryos at U.S. clinics that are frozen or destroyed because their agenda is not about “life,” but forced motherhood and a return to traditional gender roles. When Ohio passed its abortion ban, for example, Republican state representative Christina Hagan said, “Motherhood isn’t easy, but it is necessary.”

Streaming All in the family. It's as if we are stuck in time

I’m on the second episode and they’ve already talked about race, immigration, the war, the environment, the corrupt president, Edith called him tricky dicky. Archie went off about respecting the president. Archie going off about Democrats wanting to destroy everything with their socialism. And in true white man victim mode, blamed Mike when he burned himself when he touched the handle of a hot kettle.

I lost a family member to gun violence this weekend

Still numb from hearing the news. He didn’t even live to see 30. What happened to fist fighting? Apparently he was killed by his new girlfriend’s either ex/other boyfriend. Not sure of the details on that yet. So senseless.
His mother is devastated, of course. He died in NY. She lives in FL. Getting on a flight to claim your child’s body should not be something any parent has to go through. Parents are not supposed to bury their children.
When will our government do something??? I don’t know it for a fact but I am willing to bet this was not a legal firearm. This happened in NYC.
Apparently ghost guns are contributing to the huge uptick in violent crimes. You can just order parts online and make a DIY gun at home. What is wrong with this country?

Don't get the vaccine, drink Pepsi. Tiffany Cross just pointed out the ridiculousness

Of Khyrie Irving saying he doesn’t know what’s in the vaccine. He’s paid millions by Pepsi to promote their product. She commented that someone online said I bet if you ask him what’s in Pepsi, he couldn’t tell you.
I’ll take that argument even further since he’s been liking dumb conspiracies about chips in the vaccine, something about satan and destroying the black community. You know who contributes to the destruction of the black community? Pepsi.
Now there are a myriad of reasons why black people suffer and die more from obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cancer. Poverty, lack of access to healthcare, food deserts are some of the factors. But isn’t it rich that a multi millionaire questions the very thing necessary to preserve lives and at the same time gets paid millions to promote products to black people that have significant negative effects on their health. The lack of critical thinking is astounding.

She owes over $12,000 for 911 calls, now she may lose her home

Where Parker lives, in South Euclid, Ohio, a local ordinance allows the city to fine residents if the cops repeatedly show up at their house—something that’s happened to Parker’s family numerous times—to deal with a “nuisance” or criminal complaint. Parker, whose adult son has schizophrenia, was punished under the law after her child’s worsening mental health needs triggered repeated visits from the police.

And Parker’s son, who doesn’t even live with her, was usually the one calling the cops—not her. On one occasion, Parker was fined after her son called 911 and “made bizarre and threatening complaints against his mother and family members,” according to a lawsuit Parker filed against South Euclid in late August alleging the violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act and her constitutional rights. Another time, he called the police to say he was suicidal. That cost her too.

“I feel that no one is there to help me,” Parker said. “I just feel like they don’t care. It bothers me because I might be homeless. And I don’t know what to do. I worked all my life.”

Kudos to Gabby Petito's family

Heard on tv that they established a memorial fund in her name to help other families find their missing loved ones. My heart goes out to them and all families going through this. I think it’s an amazing thing for them, even in their time of suffering, to be concerned about the suffering of others.
