grumpyduck's JournalLoaded question about talking with Republicans
Okay, folks, serious answers only please.
I've mentioned here several times that I have an old friend who's a Republican and that we rarely talk politics. However, every time he gets on it, it's always about how bad the Democrats are.
So I'm curious as to whether any of you have asked a Republican what it was, exactly, that they liked about the previous (ahem) administration, and, if so, how they responded.
I've considered doing this several times with my friend, but know it would result in a very long (as in very long) and irritating conversation for both of us -- mostly me trying to get him back to my question -- so I've been holding off.
Pronouns: he, him, his or she, her, hers
How many of you use, or are required to use, your pronouns in your email signatures, i.e., John Smith he, his, him.
A number of people at my office have started using them, so I'm just curious (I'm one of the hold-outs).
Animal photos and videos.
I've been noticing that, ever since phones started having cameras, the amount of photos and videos about animals has increased big time: funny ones, or showing how smart they are, or whatever.
Which makes me think about how much "we" haven't known about animals up to now. Used to be that, except for pets, we didn't see or hear that much about them except on wildlife shows.
A couple of years ago I read "Are We Smart Enough to Know How Smart Animals Are?" by Frans de Waal. It was awesome.
Question for iPhone users
As an Android user, I'm fascinated by the idea that Apple seems to be coming out with new iPhones all the time. I just received a text from TMobile offering me $800 off on a new iPhone 13. Seems it was only yesterday they were pushing the iPhone 10.
Do people really upgrade every time a new phone comes out?
What are the differences? Are they that major?
HuffPost: New California Law Targets Amazon Warehouse Production Quotas
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/california-law-ab-701-targets-amazon-warehouse-production-quotas_n_614c5a0fe4b06beda46bc490Based on recent MSM offerings, it would appear that Amazon warehouse workers may be the modern equivalent of the ancient Semitic groups that were enslaved by Egypt and (according to Hollywood) built the pyramids. At least nowadays they get fired instead of (again according to Hollywood) whipped or killed.
I am more and more convinced each day that Republican politicians
(and Faux Nooz) really believe that their bases are made up of morons.
Why else would they spout so much bullshit and misinformation? "I keep them angry so they vote for me?"
Meanwhile, their bases are also slowly dying out from Covid. It's like an ethnic cleansing.
Windex for Covid?
The father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding said it worked on anything.
With galaxy-class apologies to Jabba the Hutt.
After the last couple of days and seeing McCarthy's bullshit, I got this mental picture of tfg on Jabba's throne manipulating all his ass-kissing minions.
And then I got another image of a lady I won't mention doing to tfg what Leia did to Jabba. Except it may happen in a courtroom instead of on the barge.
From HuffPost: "Donald Trump Accuses Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley Of Hypocrisy"
Says the biggest fucking hypocrite in the galaxy.
Does tfg have something on McCarthy?
Sorry if this has been asked before, but it seems like McCarthy's tone and messaging over the past few days has changed, but it's different than McConnell's or the three spoiled brats.
It doesn't come across as desperation or fear exactly, but more like he's taking directions from someone (tfg, probably) or trying to do some damage control.
Anyone else notice this?
