If they vote to convict him? Some are compromised and can't vote for conviction. A vote to not convict is a vote enabling trump and domestic terrorism to continue.
If trump isn't convicted does that mean he still gets security briefings still?
Isn't that a National Security threat? He'd use them for him and his family to profit from. Maybe another attempted coup.
Trump went out of his way to hurt government employees who told the truth,
By firing them, or removing them from their position, or forcing them to resign and retire , and taking their pension away from them . All for telling the truth . Now trump attempts and failure turning over the election, and a coup, attacking our Democracy to make him have absolute power by force and Republicans in our Congress voted against holding HIM accountable, with consequences.
If the GOP Senators refuse to convict him that means HE gets a pension after attempting a coup, and he'll steal from us even more with funneling money from allowances he's given, SS accommodation's, office allowances for the rest of his life, that we have to pay him. That's going to piss people off if they allow that to happen after the reign of terror he's put us through, and I think it'll damage all those in the GOP that supported his escape from having consequences forever. It'll piss me off him getting anything for what he's done, and it'll be a great campaign commercial for future re-election attempts against them. trump will also terrorize the GOP no matter what they do, and try to hurt even his main supporters. This time they need to convict him, and give others an indication they will have consequences. Giving someone a pension for a failed coup against our government where people were murdered is going against their oath they took, and enables extremists.

Its really trumps way of admitting that's what he and Republicans are doing. He projects his criminal acts onto others, then repeats it over and over again.
So, the Republicans in Congress allowing trump to go free for seriously threatening our Democracy
Is their plan? Its not going to look good for them , and cause for abandoning their party for good for many. Enabling murder, sedition , and an attack on our government has no real consequences , if your a Republican? Corruption is condoned? Election fraud by trump and them is now the norm? This will backfire on them all , especially as they get exposed? We can only hope.

Remember trump recently stopped an IG investigating him and his wife. God only knows how much trump and Putin got on them, and they're both too compromised to go against their demands. Mitch is playing us now with excuses, then after the trial he'll produce more excuses using something to claim he can't be convicted. I don 't trust someone like Mitch, especially with thus. I think the NY Times article was for distraction.
trump's main goal now is corrupting the Senate votes,
With bribes, threats , blackmail, and compromise them, and corrupt the trial results in his favor. I suspect he's tried these tactics all along with the judicial branch, and has harassed them numerous times. He'll have his minions helping him do this to members, and will start pleading for help, then turn to his usual means f necessary.

That's illegal, and if trump tries to pardon it away , he'll lose if its challenged. trump is involved with the crime, and he can't pardon anyone he's involved in crimes with to escape justice, and the Supreme Court will rule against his pardon because its actually to protect him criminality. Once again Rudy has screwed trump good. They will rule pardons weren't ever intended for use for self protection from criminal liability. He can't pardon himself, and this would do that.
The new AG needs to quickly target all these extremist groups,
Qanon, neo-nazi's, KKK, and all military groups , and others , and Congress needs to look at making charging these types of groups easier , and with harsher penalties. They're domestic terrorists being used by trump and putin against us and our government. They need to clean up those involved in our military too. And increase penalties for threats to any member in Congress, or state and local government official to stop that from escalating.
They're trying to terrorize them , and us into submission, and make people scared to do anything against them now. If trump pardons these people , put them on the stand to testify for more information, and catch them in lies to promote charges they cant escape. Hope the new AG is good at delegating , and getting good people involved at once to help hit the floor running on numerous things. Special council for elections, one for corruption, one for the attack on the Capital, and one for russia and putin.
McConnell's plan now is to stall anything he can ,
To hurt Biden . He will refuse to impeach trump when it gets to that, and continue to prevent and stall as much as he can. He can't stall the reopening the IG investigation trump got stopped looking at Mitch and his wife. Mitch is compromised , and trump and putin know it too.
