This is what we are up against. A quote from a guy, (screen name?), Ricky James after Florida school shooting:
"Sorry lady but my right to own an AR-15 is more important than your dead kid. ...."
Rona story - a bit sad. Elderly school crossing guard.
I would see him every morning, reflective vest, sitting in his car and getting out when someone needed crossing during rush hour. March, 2020, schools closed. I would drive by in the mornings and he would still be there sitting in his car, His vest would be on or laying on the dashboard. I wouldn't see him out of the car because there was nobody to help cross.
None of the other school crossing guards that I passed during my morning drive were at their posts.
But it was his post and he was there every morning until June.
Come September, he didn't return. I guess he finally realized there was no reason to.
Two weeks ago, school reopened. He was back at his post. I opened my car window and shouted that it was good to see him back, He responded with a big smile and wave.
The world felt a little bit better.

I bring this up because of my neighbor --- been dead now for about 10 years. He lived across the street. He was over our house quite a few times and us over to his. He lived by himself, divorced for the last 25 years of his life.
He worked in AT&T's Bell Labs. I asked him what he did there but his explanation made no sense to me. I had no idea what da fuck he was talking about. He had a Ph.D in astrophysics. So I never again brought up his work.
He was disabled so he didn't get out much or go anywhere except to work. It was around 1975 that our families went on vacation together. His wife packed the back of their car with all kinds of computer shit --- took up about 1/3 of the back of the hatchback. Computers were BIG, then. It made sense for him to take all that stuff on vacation... the computer stuff was his fun and he wasn't going to leave the cabin during the week anyway, so what the hell. It would give him something to do while the rest of us were swimming or sightseeing.
Three weeks ago, I came across some of his papers from a "New Age" organization he belonged to. Rather than just shit-can the stuff, I figured he would want the organization to have it. To entice them into accepting the stuff, I figured I would research his work and tell the organization about who he was.
Wikipedia described him as being one of the first developers of the theory of artificial intelligence.. William Gale.
Real Est. zoning question.
So the shop in question is zoned for repairing broken windshields and such. Owner tried to sell it over the years but was told that zoning could go only to residential. His shop is grandfathered in and cannot be used for any other commercial purpose except auto related.
A guy wants to buy it and put in a plumbing business... just parking his trucks and store parts and fixtures inside. He was told by seller's lawyer that this could work if he doesn't change the signage on the front of the building.
Does this make sense?
