Gatwick drone chaos: arrested couple released without charge

Well, it wasn't the two people they arrested. Back to the drawing board!

Detectives hunting for those behind the drone chaos that paralysed Gatwick airport have released the only two people they have arrested and declared them innocent.

Sussex police said on Sunday that the man and woman had been released without charge and ruled out of their inquiries.

It means whoever flew the drones so close to Gatwick that Christmas flights had to be cancelled is still at large.

Watch the Senate proceedings at C-SPAN without cable

C-SPAN makes Senate proceedings available online here. I don't have a cable subscription and it is working for me. I can't say if this works for people outside the US. Nothing important is happening on the floor at the moment.

Court to Flynn: Stay close and give us your passport

Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered Michael Flynn to stay within 50 miles of Washington and surrender his passport. He is imposing the restrictions because they are typical for defendants released on personal recognizance but he had just learned Flynn was not under such a restriction

Small bit of info on that secret court hearing

So there is a company involved. Any guesses?

Four days after attorneys secretly argued over a grand jury subpoena suspected to be related to the Special Counsel’s Office investigation into Russian influence in the election, a federal appeals court is forcing an unnamed company to comply with the subpoena.

EDIT: Company is in a foreign country

The company that sought to quash the subpoena is owned by a foreign country, the ruling Tuesday from the appeals court said.

EDIT 2: The company is facing a $5,000 per week penalty for non-compliance, although how that can be enforced is a question.

One thing we learned is that the judge found the company in contempt for failing to comply with the grand jury subpoena, and imposed a daily $ penalty — the DC Circuit said that was okay, although how that gets enforced "is a separate question for a later day"

Avenatti now representing Chalupa

This should get interesting:

Michael Avenatti
I am now representing Alexandra Chalupa in connection with investigating and pursuing possible legal claims against Manafort, Trump and other affiliated individuals. She was targeted with baseless, bogus allegations, all designed to distract away from Trump’s Russian collusion.

Public Defender Mysteriously Appointed In Butina Case

Interesting:

A serious of mysterious events in the case of Maria Butina, the accused Russian agent, culminated with the judge Thursday appointing her a public defender as “advisory counsel.”
...
It is still possible that the public defender, A.J. Kramer, was appointed because Butina is or is about to become a pro se litigant, meaning represent herself, legal experts told TPM.
...
It is also possible, outside defense attorneys say, that that he was appointed because of a potential conflict had arisen in the case with her current representation.

What time of day will the Flynn sentencing memo drop tommorrow?

We know tomorrow (Tuesday) is Mueller's filing deadline for Mike Flynn's sentencing memo.

Do we know what time of day the document is due? Have these things previously appeared early in the day or late at night?

I hope it comes out before Rachel's show.
