Warren passes Biden in new nationwide poll

A new national survey shows Elizabeth Warren now sitting atop the 2020 Democratic field, further cementing her ascendancy in the party’s presidential primary after a pair of polls reported her leading in the first two primary states.

Twenty-seven percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents polled by Quinnipiac University said they favor Warren, according to a survey released Wednesday morning. Twenty-five percent said they prefer former Vice President Joe Biden.

Economists hail strong jobs report as jobless rate dips

https://finance.yahoo.com/m/46ff54e3-5824-387a-a26c-27f11d38cc94/%27boom%21%27-economists-hail.html

Here's what economists are saying about the April employment data, showing a stronger-than-expected 263,000 new jobs created and the unemployment rate dropping to 3.6%. • Carl Tannenbaum of Northern Trust said it looked like a “goldilocks” performance, with strong payroll growth but modest year-over-year wage gains. • “The details of the report weren't quite so encouraging, with the decline in the unemployment rate driven largely by a fall in the labor force within the household survey, meanwhile on the establishment survey a slight tick down in average working hours meant that, despite the strong job growth, AGGREGATE HOURS WERE DOWN SLIGHTLY ON THE MONTH.

Yeah sure, unemployment rate is down because those who want jobs already have one, and others are too discouraged to look for jobs because pay and benefits are lousy.

GM to Add Second Shift and More Than 400 Hourly Jobs at Bowling Green (Ky.) Assembly Plant

Bowling Green, Ky. — General Motors is adding a second shift and more than 400 hourly jobs at its Bowling Green (Kentucky) Assembly plant to support production of the Next Generation Corvette, which will be revealed on July 18, 2019.

The addition of the second shift will increase the plant’s workforce to more than 1,300.

“The Corvette’s iconic status owes so much to the men and women of Bowling Green, where it has been built exclusively for almost 40 years,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “This is the workforce that can deliver a next generation Corvette worthy of both its historic past and an equally exciting future, and today’s announcement gets us one step closer to its reveal on July 18.”

Since 2011, GM has invested more than $900 million into Bowling Green. This includes investments towards a new body shop, increased engine capacity, new paint shop, a new Performance Build Center, and additional plant upgrades.

Picture emerges of well-to-do young bombers behind Sri Lankan carnage

Source: Reuters

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Details began to emerge in Sri Lanka on Wednesday of a band of nine, well-educated Islamist suicide bombers, including a woman, from well-to-do families who slaughtered 359 people in Easter Sunday bomb attacks.

The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks on three churches and four hotels. If that connection is confirmed, the attacks looks likely to be the deadliest ever linked to the group.

S&P 500 and Nasdaq rally to record closing highs after strong earnings from broad range of companies

Ending sanction exemptions to Iranian oil customers like China & India & others,
is causing oil prices to spike, which means more profits for oil producer. That is bullish for stocks but not for consumers. The top 1% gets richer, while working Americans who must drive to work will pay the price.

Nadler: I don't understand why Mueller didn't charge Donald Trump Jr.,Others in Trump Tower meeting

Source: the hill.com

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said Sunday that he doesn't understand why special counsel Robert Mueller didn't charge Donald Trump Jr. and others involved in the 2016 Trump Tower meeting with criminal conspiracy.

Nadler, appearing on NBC's "Meet the Press," noted that Mueller said he didn't bring charges against those in the meeting because he couldn't prove they willfully intended to commit a crime.

Junior was thrilled to hear Russia was going to help his dad. Manafort & Jared Kushner also felt this was an important meeting and attended. Then 45 lied and said he never heard about this meeting until afterwards. Yeah right, and I still believe in tooth fairy, even after half my teeth are gone.

Stephen Moore At the Fed Is a Scary Thought

The real reason that Stephen Moore does not belong on the Federal Reserve Board is not that he is unqualified for the job, though he is. Nor is it that he has been a highly partisan and divisive figure for many years, though he has been. The real reason is that, if confirmed by the Senate, Moore could become the Fed chairman — and that is a scary possibility. It could spawn a global financial calamity.

The Singapore Airport Was Just Named The 'World's Greatest Airport' For The Seventh Year In A Row

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/singapore-airport-just-named-world-162000585.html

I passed through that airport a couple of years ago, and I absolutely believe it is the world's best.
The airport had great facilities, including 100+ computers with internet for use by passengers free of charge.

The underground highway system in Singapore is fabulous, and very fast to drive through. My cab made really good time from the cruise terminal to the airport. Very clean city, very low crime (there are large signs everywhere announcing drug peddlers get automatic death sentence), but the best part is food! Chinese, Indian and Arabic restaurants are wonderful. Unemployment rate is near zero. Only people without jobs are those are in between jobs. There is no unemployment checks which encourages everyone to work I am guessing. And everyone speaks English! This is a visibly prosperous city. Our tour guide said every 6th Singapore citizen is a millionaire. 1/3 of work force is foreigners on temporary work visa's. The Buddhists, Hindu's & Muslims get along without any skirmishes or terrorism.

The U.S. Now Has More Millionaires Than Sweden Has People

(Bloomberg) -- The number of wealthy households in the U.S. reached a new high last year, roughly equivalent to the entire population of Sweden or Portugal. More than 10.2 million households had a net worth of $1 million to $5 million, not including the value of their primary residence, according to a survey by the Spectrem Group. That’s up 2.5 percent from 2017.
