Trump NYC Veterans Day speech met with protests
Protesters spelled out the words "impeach" and "convict" in letters taped to the windows of a high-rise overlooking the park, and chants of lock him up were heard from the crowd. Public hearings in the House impeachment inquiry are scheduled to begin Wednesday.
Demonstrators gathered near the site of Trumps speech to protest his presence and could be heard by attendees chanting lock him up and blowing whistles in the distance.

Rand Paul Argues Trump Has 'Every Right' To Freeze Military Aid To Ukraine
Presidents, since the beginning of time, have resisted Congress, the Kentucky Republican told NBC News Meet the Press host Chuck Todd. And theres been this sort of back-and-forth jockeying over what is sent.
But also, presidents have withheld aid before for corruption, he continued. So the thing is, I think its a mistake to say, Oh, he withheld aid until he got what he wanted. Well, if its corruption, and he believes there to be corruption, he has every right to withhold aid.

Schiff Whacks Nunes' Witness Requests: Will Not Abet 'Sham Investigations'
House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) responded to Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) witness requests Saturday, saying that he would not allow the impeachment inquiry to become a vehicle for more sham investigations.
Nunes, ranking member on the committee, sent his list in a letter to Schiff earlier on Saturday, naming the whistleblower and Hunter Biden among the people Republicans want to testify.
Schiff responded in a statement, saying that he would give the request due consideration.
This inquiry is not, and will not serve, however, as a vehicle to undertake the same sham investigations into the Bidens or 2016 that the President pressed Ukraine to conduct for his personal political benefit, or to facilitate the Presidents effort to threaten, intimidate, and retaliate against the whistleblower who courageously raised the initial alarm, Schiff wrote.

Mulvaney attempts to join lawsuit over House subpoena
On Friday night, Mulvaney asked a court to allow him to join a lawsuit about the House subpoena power over White House witnesses in the impeachment probe. Mulvaney wrote he fears the House could hold him in contempt, while he obeys executive branch orders.
He claims that he cannot choose between complying with the House subpoena he received and the White House's instruction that he is immune from testifying, and would like a federal court to decide for him.
Mulvaney's move in court adds him to the ongoing case of another uncooperative impeachment witness, former deputy national security adviser Charles Kupperman, who sued House members and the White House before his scheduled testimony, asking a court to resolve whether he should follow the White House's orders that he is immune from testimony or the House's subpoena. Kupperman's case isn't set to be resolved for weeks, if not until mid-December or later.
