Empire is the fourth full-length studio album by the American heavy metal band Queensrÿche, released on August 20, 1990. The album stands as Queensrÿche's most commercially successful release, reaching triple-platinum status.[10] The primary single, the power ballad "Silent Lucidity", reached number 1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks and number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100.[11] "Silent Lucidity" was also nominated in 1992 for the Grammy Awards for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.[12] The album won a 1991 Northwest Area Music Award for Best Metal Recording.

Angel Dust is the fourth studio album by American rock band Faith No More, released on June 8, 1992, by Slash and Reprise Records. It is the follow-up to 1989's highly successful The Real Thing, and was the band's final album to feature guitarist Jim Martin. It was also the first album where vocalist Mike Patton had any substantial influence on the band's music,[4][5] having been hired after the other band members had written and recorded everything for The Real Thing except vocals and most of the lyrics.[6][7][8] The band stated that they wanted to move away from the funk metal style of their prior releases, towards a more "theatrical" sound.[9]

Angel Dust is Faith No More's best-selling album to date, having sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide. It also debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200, making it the band's only top-ten album in the United States.

Friday Night Classic Album Rock - Welcome to the Canteen - Traffic - 1971

Welcome to the Canteen is the first live album by English rock band Traffic. It was recorded live at Fairfield Halls, Croydon and the Oz Benefit Concert, London, July 1971 and released in September of that year. It was recorded during Dave Mason's third stint with the band, which lasted only six performances.

The track list includes one song each from the first three Traffic albums; two songs from Mason's first solo album, Alone Together; and "Gimme Some Lovin'" from Steve Winwood's former band, the Spencer Davis Group. (Winwood's organ and Mason's rhythm guitar are conspicuously out of sync for part of "Gimme Some Lovin'".)

In the band's native United Kingdom, the album was a surprise flop, the first in a series of albums by the group that would fail to make an appearance in the charts.[2] In the USA, however, it was a solid success, hitting number 26 in the charts and yielding the single "Gimme Some Lovin' (live)", which reached number 68 in the Billboard Hot 100.[3]

Although regarded as a Traffic album, it was originally released without the name "Traffic" anywhere on it; credited instead to the seven individual musicians. Nonetheless the Traffic logo appeared on the cover (on the back, in this case) as on all of their albums. Most later issues retain the original front cover with its individual crediting, but credit the album to Traffic on the spine.[4]

Janis Joplin "Maybe" on The Ed Sullivan Show

Another one, continuing the Ed Sullivan series, so much good music was presented on that venue and I thought I would highlight some of the standout performances over the next weeks.

Ed was very particular and wanted the best from the performances. All were recorded live.

Maybe, by Janis Joplin was recorded during her 1969 appearance on Ed's show, personally I think this performance was better than the studio recording.

War (originally called Eric Burdon and War) is an American funk-rock band from Long Beach, California, known for several hit songs (including "Spill the Wine", "The World Is a Ghetto", "The Cisco Kid", "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", and "Summer&quot . Formed in 1969, War is a musical crossover band that fuses elements of rock, funk, jazz, Latin, rhythm and blues, and reggae. Their album The World Is a Ghetto was Billboard's best-selling album of 1973. The band transcended racial and cultural barriers with a multi-ethnic line-up. War was subject to many line-up changes over the course of its existence, leaving member Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan as the only original member in the current line-up; four other members created a new group called the Lowrider Band.

Why do I feel like we are being bullied in the playground and not fighting back?

Let me explain.

When I was a young man, I got bullied, mercilessly. Every day after school, I was stalked and beaten by a gang of bullies. I had no way out. The main bully would start the beating and get me down and after others would pile on when he took a break. It was the worst year of my life and at 10 years old, I wanted to die. Summer came and I was able to shelter as normal and recover.

The next school year we were all bussed across town, so walking to school was out, but the bully was bussed too, so the bullying was about to continue.

I was a very nice kid and quickly made friends in the new school as, well, I was nice. I got a girlfriend quickly. She stole my watch off my wrist. Her brother brought me my watch and told me, "My sister likes you and wants you to be her boyfriend." I simply said, "Cool"

After that we all hung out in the playground together, the bully from my old school always waiting for his opportunity.

One day, I was alone in the playground and the bully and his friends cornered me and started in on me. A few shoves later and a group of my new friends and my girlfriends brother came to my aid.

After that, they taught me how to fight. Not fun fight. Dirty fight. The kind of fighting that quickly ends a brawl because it shocks the recipient and onlookers.

The next time I got bullied while alone, I fought. Dirty.

It never happened again.

We are in a fight for the democracy of this country and the other side fights dirty.

We need to stop being so freaking nice, even if it means calling out some of our 'own' on their choices to side with the enemy.

My apologies for the rant...thanks for listening/reading...I feel better now.
