EveHammond13's JournalLakoff says trump supporters are slaves to their conservative moral worldview
That is why facts don't get in.
That is why there is no reasoning with them.
They believe in a hierarchy of how things should be. They consider this moral.* Their personal identity is welded to it.
In short, it is the Strong Father** (authoritarian, dictator, top-down) view of how things should work.
Part of this system:
Men above Women
Whites above PoC
Parents above Children
Christians above Non-Christians
Rich above Poor
Straight above Gay
That's why no abortion. The Strong Father makes decisions about who is to be pregnant when and he is not to be questioned on any basis ever.
If you are struggling in life - they believe it is because you are the "disobedient, lazy, immoral child" who refused to do the work or to obey authority. The poor are poor because they are lazy, immoral and disobedient.
According to Lakoff, this is why trump will never lose that certain base of his voters. They believe he is The Defender of their worldview. It is not more complicated than that. And they ARE their worldview. And progressives are trying to destroy the structure, the Strong Father's unquestioned power, and their very identities in the structure.
That's why facts don't matter. That's why they don't care who trump cheats, abuses or rapes. Or if they care it's still never as bad as giving progressives power.
*moral from their POV
**progressives, OTOH, have a Nurturant Parent, empathy-based worldview.
--------------------------
This is of course disheartening and quite disgusting to me. These people are ingrained bigots. They are ingrained sexists. They are without empathy, mercy or in my view important basic emotional and mental capacities.
But I always come back to this as we sit here watching "man on the street" interviews with people who admit Trump is A Despicable Person But Who Cares He Has Done Great Things For the Country. (ie he has DEFENDED THE STRUCTURE and that is all that matters)
Dear Dems, your messaging should be this one phrase: ONE MAN CRIME WAVE
Say it over and over again - pound it into the public discourse.
trump is a one-man crime wave
Thank you Gov. Weld.

If Barr starts an investigation into Hillary while trump's impeachment investigation is in process in the House, it will look like the sheer abusive payback and lawless tyranny that it is. It will look very very bad.
If we don't impeach and BARR commences action against HRC - then impeachment will look like payback for that.
We need to move first.
Wasn't long ago Kellyanne was warning about the danger of lapping up Trump's lies.

1/19/2017 trump: "Next time... we'll win the old fashioned way." Um, excuse me?
Was this an inadvertent admission of cheating?

During a black-tie dinner in Washington, D.C., on the eve of his inauguration, Donald Trump again turned to one of his favorite subjects, his election win, but said "next time we're going to win the old-fashioned way."
It wasn't immediately clear what Trump meant by the remark, but he has returned to the topic numerous times following the election.
Rachel Maddow persuasively argued that OLC opinion does NOT prevent indictment
of a sitting president.
Looks like Mueller doesn't watch The Rachel Maddow Show.
Here's her partial tweet recap:

trump using presidency to shield himself from prosecution for stealing the presidency
that's the Catch-22 that apparently Mueller thought he found himself in
This does not apply to House impeachment inquiry.
