Declassified Pentagon documents discuss UFOs causing "unaccounted-for pregnancies"

or five years, the U.S. Department of Defense ran a program that monitored reports of human encounters with UFOs (unidentified flying objects). Now the release of more than 1,500 pages of documents reveals that the agency compiled bizarre stories of unaccounted pregnancies, radiation burns and even brain damage during a secretive stretch from 2007 to 2012.

First published in the British tabloid The Sun in compliance with a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request, the collection of documents was originally created by AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program). Its existence only became known to the public after former program director Luis Elizondo resigned from the Pentagon in 2017 and released videos of unidentified, fast-moving aircraft. While the U.S. government withheld some of the requested documents in the new release, claiming there were privacy and confidentiality concerns, the materials that were produced are bound to fuel rampant speculation among the large community of UFO conspiracy theorists.

The Pentagon documents state that people who observed unidentified flying objects frequently displayed a cluster of similar physical symptoms: Injuries consistent with exposure to electromagnetic radiation (such as burns), heart ailments, and sleep disturbances. A report speculates that these could be caused by "energy related propulsion systems" and warns that the underlying technology could pose a "threat to United States interests." Additionally, in cases that would not seem out of place in an "X-Files" episode, there were accounts of "apparent abduction" and "unaccounted for pregnancy."

Another document from the cache contains a rubric for categorizing different types of seemingly paranormal experiences. If a person claims to have observed a UFO that had extraterrestrials on board, for instance, they are categorized as "CE3." By contrast, someone who says they encountered "ghosts, yetis, spirits, elves and other mythical/legendary entities" is classified as "AN3."

The Totally Dodgy Backstory of the Bank that Just Refinanced Trump Tower

Donald Trump has succeeded in refinancing Trump Tower. That’s no small feat. The Trump Organization has mountains of debt and become a financial pariah. The company’s longtime accountant, Mazars, recently abandoned the Trumps — amid a New York state investigation into whether the company systematically manipulated the value of its assets. The accounting firm said it could no longer vouch for the accuracy of a decade’s worth of Trump Organization financial statements, insisting those documents “should no longer be relied upon.”

But an internet bank called Axos has stepped up with a financial lifeline for the former president’s company, working with the Trump Org. to refinance Trump Tower for a cool $100 million, in a transaction first reported by Forbes. Eric Trump released a statement defending the deal, insisting his family company was “very profitable” and had “no problem refinancing.” (Axos declined to comment for this story. The Trump Organization did not respond to a request for comment.)

Axos is an unusual lender, steeped in controversy. Its CEO and top investors have strong financial ties to the GOP. And Axos appears to be solidifying its position as the Trump-family banker, having previously stepped in as a financier for the family company of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

The deal comes at a time when the Trump Org. faces legal peril from city and state regulators in New York. It offers a window into the Trump company’s financial standing, given that it had to turn to a politically connected online bank — and not a major Wall Street institution — to refinance the loan on the company’s most iconic property. And the deal creates the possibility for yet another glaring conflict of interest should Donald Trump run for president again in 2024.

Australia has sent its first convoy of 20 refitted Bushmaster vehicles to Ukraine on aircraft C-17

It is part of a $50m support package worth of military vehicles to the country.

The armoured vehicles have been repainted olive green with Ukraine’s flag stencilled on each side and the words ‘United with Ukraine’ emblazoned in both English and Ukrainian in a pledge of solidarity.

“Australia may be thousands of kilometres away but we’re standing side by side with Ukraine against this illegal invasion with arms, equipment, aid and even energy sources,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison said.

“Our Australian-designed and made Bushmasters are known around the world for their usefulness in a combat zone and they will help boost Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s unprovoked and illegal violence.”

Olympic swimmer joins blood-red protest performance in front of Russian Embassy in Vilnius

The Lithuanian champion swimmer Rūta Meilutytė, who swam through the red-dyed pond, said in a tweet: “The performance ‘Swimming Through’ is a call for action in support of the Ukrainian people who are facing genocide committed by Russia.”

Julija Samorokovskaja, spokeswoman for Vilnius County Police, told BNS that the protest action had been coordinated with environmental protection authorities, adding that the dye was harmless.

Vilnius Municipality spokesman Paulius Vaitekėnas told BNS that the protest was an artistic performance to draw the world’s attention to Russia’s war crimes.

The crimson dye was similar to the one used to colour the River Vilnia on St Patrick’s Day, according to him.

Russia's sovereign bond coupon payments stopped: US Treasury source

“Today is the deadline for Russia to make another debt payment,” the spokeswoman said. “Beginning today, the US Treasury will not permit any dollar debt payments to be made from Russian government accounts at U.S. financial institutions. Russia must choose between draining remaining valuable dollar reserves or new revenue coming in, or default.”

The country has a 30-day grace period to make the payment, the source said.

Russia, which has a total of 15 international bonds outstanding with a face value of around $40bn, has managed to avoid defaulting on its international debt so far despite unprecedented western sanctions.

If Russia fails to make any of its upcoming bond payments within their pre-defined timeframes, or pays in roubles where dollars, euros or another currency is specified, it will constitute a default.
