Kik Messaging App to Shut Down Following SEC Lawsuit Against ICO

Following reports its crypto-focused subsidiary Kin had laid off 70 employees, Kik Interactive CEO Ted Livingston announced Monday that Kik will also be shutting down its core messaging service.

Speaking with CoinDesk, and in a company blog post, Livingston said the ongoing dispute with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has forced Kik to close its doors.

“This is a direct impact from the SEC legal action,” Livingston told CoinDesk.

New York Fed to continue operations in overnight funding market until mid-October

Source: CNBC

The New York Federal Reserve will continue overnight repurchase operations through October as it seeks to quell market instability from earlier this week.

Short-term rates in the “repo” market spiked overnight Monday amid a shortfall in funding stemming from a variety of factors. The Fed responded with a series of liquidity injections aimed at preventing further capital droughts.

In an announcement Friday, the New York Fed said it will continue repo operations through Oct. 10. The process will involve three 14-day operations involving $30 billion as well as continued overnight operations of at least $75 billion each.

The repo market provides banks the short-term funding they rely on to operate. Normally, the process works smoothly but liquidity shortfalls can gum up the works and, in the worst case, can cause financial crises.

Federal Reserve intervenes for third day to ease market strains

Source: Financial Times

The Federal Reserve intervened in the US money markets for the third day in a row on Thursday as pressure mounted for the central bank to open a more permanent facility to ease pressure on a pivotal part of the financial system.

The New York Fed injected $75bn in overnight cash into the short-term lending market, and its auction was oversubscribed for the second straight day, with banks demanding almost $84bn.

It activated its repo operation on Tuesday for the first time since 2008, after technical factors sent a pivotal measure of overnight funding costs surging. On Wednesday it ran the operation again as markets remained strained.

The central bank’s policy rate climbed above policymakers’ target on Tuesday and receded back to the very upper end of the targeted range on Wednesday, according to figures published on Thursday — a sign of how tense markets remain, even amid the Fed’s interventions.

Lewandowski refuses to answer questions at dramatic House Judiciary impeachment hearing

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski, appearing Tuesday before the House Judiciary Committee in the panel's first official "impeachment hearing," refused to answer key questions about potential obstruction by Trump and repeatedly argued with Democrats.

Lewandowski took a combative tone from the start, slamming committee Democrats, criticizing Obama-era intelligence officials, praising Trump's successful presidential campaign and jabbing at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He denied collusion with Russia -- even though he was never formally accused of that -- but avoided commenting on the obstruction issue.
"To the best of my recollection, I don't recall ever having any conversations with foreign entities, let alone any who were offering help to manipulate the outcome of the election," Lewandowski said in his opening statement. "As I have said publicly many times, anyone who attempted to illegally impact the outcome of the election should spend the rest of their life in jail."

The dramatic partisan split was on full display. Democrats traded barbs with Lewandowski and said he "chickened out" from following Trump's questionable orders. Republicans hailed Lewandowski's prowess as manager for Trump's long-shot presidential bid.

Trump claims CNN 'is bad for the USA' as he praises new AT&T investor

Source: USA today

WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump praised Monday a new AT&T investor, which owns the company that CNN is under, saying that hopefully the new shareholder will "put a stop to all of the Fake News."

Elliott Management, a top activist shareholder firm, announced Monday that it has a $3.2 billion stake in AT&T. WarnerMedia, which owns CNN, is under AT&T.

"Great news that an activist investor is now involved with AT&T. As the owner of VERY LOW RATINGS @CNN, perhaps they will now put a stop to all of the Fake News emanating from its non-credible 'anchors,'" Trump claimed in a tweet. "Also, I hear that, because of its bad ratings, it is losing a fortune."

"But most importantly, @CNN is bad for the USA," the president continued in a follow-up tweet. "Their International Division spews bad information & Fake News all over the globe. This is why foreign leaders are always asking me, 'Why does the Media hate the U.S. sooo much?' It is a fraudulent shame, & all comes from the top!"

Line Crossed? Trump Encourages New 'Activist' AT&T Investor to Stop 'Fake News Emanating'

In a pair of -- at best, ethically questionable -- tweets Monday morning, the president raged against CNN, following news of Elliott Management disclosing a $3.2 billion stake in communications giant AT&T, which owns CNN.

has anyone heard, seen the deceptive Doctor Patient Unity ads on the radio & TV?

they are a front group for the healthcare industry, they are against Congress advancing one of the few significant bipartisan reforms to the health care system still on the docket: legislation to curb the practice of “surprise medical billing.” Like all fascist PACs they lie, turn things around, make it out to be a "big guvmnt" thing.
