The Kochtopus
To ensure further growth of his riches even as science showed that the continued use of fossil fuels would accelerate climate disaster, Koch has funneled some of his vast fortune into an extraordinary network of political front groups, lobbying efforts, think tanks, and activist networks that aim to stifle climate action. For decades, the Kochtopus, as some call his many-tentacled political influence machine, has sought to undermine not just the environmental regulation in Koch Industries path but also the science and philosophy of government on which it is based.
Kochs lobbyists and political operatives helped kill a 2009 bill aimed at tackling climate change through a cap-and-trade system that could have cut into his companies profits. While the mounting findings of climate scientists led other titans of industry to begin adjusting their business plans to lower carbon emissions, Koch-funded groups were among the first climate denialists, flatly lying about the well-documented planetary trend of global warming and then schooling lawmakers on the alternate reality they had crafted. Koch also pioneered the attack on Republicans from the right, pushing the party into its current extremism.
Todays Supreme Court decision marks perhaps the biggest payoff yet for Kochs decades of plotting against environmental regulations and the most devastating loss for everyone else. Three of the extremist judges who joined the decision Gorsuch, Barrett, and Kavanaugh wound up on the Supreme Court in large part because of Kochs activism and contributions.
Americans for Prosperity, an astroturf political group founded by Charles Koch and his brother David, conducted extraordinary campaigns to put all three judges on the highest bench. To support Kavanaughs nomination, the group reached out to more than 1.2 million Americans through mail, phone calls, and knocking on doors, according to a flyer released by the organization. The group also pushed hard for Barrett, whose father worked for Shell and the American Petroleum Institute, a powerful trade group for the oil and gas industry. And it campaigned for Gorsuch, whose mother presided disastrously over the EPA under President Ronald Reagan. Charles Koch is also closely connected to Leonard Leo, co-chair of the Federalist Society, a conservative organization Koch has supported directly and through his family foundation.
The case itself can also be tied directly to Koch. The challengers are 27 Republican attorneys general, who were supported by the Koch-funded Republican Attorneys General Association. At least four Koch-funded entities have filed amicus briefs in the case: the Cato Institute, which was co-founded by Charles Koch; the Competitive Enterprise Institute; the New Civil Liberties Alliance; and Americans for Prosperity. Another foundation that filed an amicus brief, the Landmark Legal Foundation, denied receiving Koch funding, though Jane Mayer reports in her book Dark Money that Koch helped subsidize it.

Explosive January 6 Testimony: Trump Wanted Armed Supporters to March to the Capitolhttps://www.motherjones.com/politics/2022/06/cassidy-hutchinson-january-6-trump-armed-supporters/
"They're not here to hurt me."
Said the traitor.
The Traitor by Paul Joanowitch
A former aide to ex-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows testified to the House January 6 committee that former President Donald Trump furiously demanded that security be lifted to allow his armed supporters to march on the U.S. Capitol on the day of the 2021 insurrection, telling his aides that "they're not here to hurt me."
Cassidy Hutchinson, a close Meadows assistant who delivered in-person testimony to the January 6 panel on Tuesday, told congressional investigators during her 20 hours of deposition that she "was in the vicinity of a conversation" in which she heard the president "say something to the effect of, 'I don't f-ing care that they have weapons... Take the f-ing mags away"a reference to the magnetometers that security officials were using to keep armed supporters away from a rally that preceded the Capitol attack.

How a McConnell-backed effort to lift Russian sanctions boosted a Kentucky project
By Tom Hamburger and Rosalind S. Helderman
The Washington Post, August 14, 2019
In January, as the Senate debated whether to permit the Trump administration to lift sanctions on Russias largest aluminum producer, two men with millions of dollars riding on the outcome met for dinner at a restaurant in Zurich.
On one side of the table sat the head of sales for Rusal, the Russian aluminum producer that would benefit most immediately from a favorable Senate vote. The U.S. government had imposed sanctions on Rusal as part of a campaign to punish Russia for malign activity around the globe, including attempts to sway the 2016 presidential election.
On the other side sat Craig Bouchard, an American entrepreneur who had gained favor with officials in Kentucky, the home state of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. Bouchard was trying to build the first new aluminum-rolling mill in the United States in nearly four decades, in a corner of northeastern Kentucky ravaged by job losses and the opioid epidemic a project that stood to benefit enormously if Rusal were able to get involved.

But the timing of their meeting shows how much a major venture in McConnells home state had riding on the Democratic-backed effort in January to keep sanctions in place.
By the next day, McConnell had successfully blocked the bill, despite the defection of 11 Republicans.
Within weeks, the U.S. government had formally lifted sanctions on Rusal, citing a deal with the company that reduced the ownership interest of its Kremlin-linked founder, Oleg Deripaska. And three months later, Rusal announced plans for an extraordinary partnership with Bouchards company, providing $200 million in capital to buy a 40 percent stake in the new aluminum plant in Ashland, Ky. a project Gov. Matt Bevin (R) boasted was as significant as any economic deal ever made in the history of Kentucky.

Ghislaine Maxwell's cellmate 'was offered money to kill Jeffrey Epstein's accomplice'

Metro UK, Thursday 16 Jun 2022 4:49 pm
Lawyers for Ghislaine Maxwell say her cellmate in prison has claimed on several occasions to have been offered money to kill the 60-year-old Jeffrey Epstein accomplice.
Her attorneys made the claim in a court filing Wednesday, in which they called for leniency after she was convicted of sex trafficking and helping pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein abuse teenage girls.
One of the female inmates in Ms Maxwells housing unit told at least three other inmates that she had ben offered money to murder Ms Maxwell and that she planned to strangle her in her sleep, the court filing read.
The inmate claimed the payment had been worth an additional 20 years incarceration.

Is Violence How the Right Brings Change?
Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun. Mao Zedong
Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death. Adolf Hitler
(Chicagos semi-automatic weapons) ban is thus highly suspect because it broadly prohibits common semiautomatic firearms used for lawful purposes. Roughly five million Americans own AR-style semiautomatic rifles. The overwhelming majority of citizens who own and use such rifles do so for lawful purposes, including self-defense and target shooting. Under our precedents, that is all that is needed for citizens to have a right under the Second Amendment to keep such weapons.
