FOX, talk radio etc are hype men (and in some cases women) for Trump/GOP. OF COURSE they're liars.

That’s a feature, not a bug, for the entire right-wing, fascist or aspiring fascist political apparatus that FOX and other right-wing media are a part of. The descriptor “right-wing” is a giveaway, is it not?

It’s not news, it’s not even editorial. No, it’s a nakedly crass political-ideological project on behalf of the Right’s ruling class of rich white men and whatever supplicants, power-climbers, and cult following marks (much of “the base” of the Republican Party) whom they can attract.

The cruelty is the point. The propaganda is the point. The lies and distortions are the point. The character assassinations and enforcement of in-group loyalty are the point. We should expect nothing more from right-wing media except for more of the same. And that expectation is ALWAYS proven right.

Authoritarian leaders always call critical media enemies of the people and dissidents "terrorists."

Objective, critical media = Fake News and Enemies of the People.

The far-right demagogues on FOX “News”, Sinclair, One America, talk radio = real journalism.

Antifa and Black Lives Matter = terrorists and criminal thugs.

Remember the Grand Bargain between Trump, Netanyahu, MBS, MBZ, and Putin.

Putin wanted an end to sanctions, weakening of NATO and the European Union, and a free hand in Ukraine and elsewhere in the “Russian sphere of influence.”

Netanyahu wanted more control over the Palestinians (and Israel in general), more unquestioning support from the US, a free hand in settlements in the Palestinian territories, and an aggressively hostile stance toward Iran.

The Gulf monarchies (specifically Saudi Arabia and the UAE) also wanted an aggressively hostile stance toward Iran - and more arms sales, nuclear technology, more support for their war in Yemen, and an end to US support for any kind of democratic or liberal movements in the Arab world.

All of them hated or grew to hate Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. All of them wanted more wealth, more power, and access to the President and his inner circle - including his family. All of them wanted no criticism and no accountability. And all of them were willing to pay top dollar to the political and business leaders of the USA - the world’s superpower - in exchange for it. And the less democratic the US itself became, the more corrupt our so-called leaders and our institutions became, all the better for them!

As a Sanders supporter, I share the age concerns. And I also would like a Democratic woman POTUS

Perhaps Sanders for President, Warren (or Klobuchar) for Vice President, and Sanders serves one term and then Vice President Warren or Klobuchar runs in 2024?

I’d support that.

Quantifying evil is strange. If someone kills 50 people as opposed to 100, are they any less evil?

What about a serial rapist who never murders anyone? What about a white-collar sociopath who defrauds investors, even if only his or her own family and friends?

Moreover, as far as I know, the only human life Hitler ever personally took was his own. By that standard, he has nothing on Ted Bundy or Stephen Paddock. Or does he? Is it in fact more evil to have other people kill on your behalf than at least have the “courage” to do the deed yourself?

What about one’s motives and intentions - in addition to the consequences of one’s actions and the actions themselves? What’s in the human heart?

Behold, the Party of Rapture-welcoming fanatics, power-hungry cynics, and far-right nihilists.

I’m talking, of course, about the Republican Party, the modern one.

Democrats (and many/most Independents) recognize the existential threat we’re facing, and are doing their damnedest to stop it.

Republicans (ie. Trump supporters) also recognize the existential threat we’re facing, and are eagerly doing their damndest to speed it along.

That’s the difference. That’s a key root of our polarization, layered with centuries of all-American foundations of racism, xenophobia. sexism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, spiced with Fake News from hostile foreign actors like Vladimir Putin (a jaded KGB man and resentful cynic himself - no wonder Trump and other Republicans like him) along with the existing far-right media infrastructure of Murdoch’s rags + FOX, talk radio, Sinclair, OneAmerica, Breitbart, InfoWars, the NRA, the white supremacist evangelicals and neo-Birchers...ok, I’m rambling, but you get the gist I hope.

There are more of us than there are of them. But they’ll stop at nothing, because they have no shame, no scruples, no sense of or care for basic notions of right or wrong. For them, it’s all about blowing up the world to spite the rest of us. That’s where we are now...
