Evangelical churches and denominations have been hijacked by Trumpism

The old saying from farm country is that when you walk in manure, it sticks to your boots. The alliance between some Evangelical leaders and Trump has produced a lot of bad behavior and corruption within Evangelicalism. And while many of them either don't notice, or notice but don't want to acknowledge that their scandals and corrupt behavior looks just like Trump, and it has grown exponentially among them during the Trump years, there does not seem to be much of a will or initiative to correct course.

Texas HB 3979 has unintented consequences leading to a bad interpretation

There are a couple of other discussion threads about the law, aimed at preventing the teaching of Criticial Race theory in schools in Texas. But in one school district, an administrator ordered faculty to teach or provide materials on the "opposite view' of the Holocaust when it is taught in class. In that particular district, there was a context to this action, since a teacher had already been reprimanded for a book she had in her possession, on combatting racism, which a student borrowed and took home without permission. A parent complained that it was to advanced for her child's grade level. That, in turn, caused confusion and fear among other staff members thinking that books and materials they had in their classroom could be used to reprimand them.

The community members, or at least most of them, stepped up and defended the teachers and administrators, supporting them as they try to navigate a poorly written, unnecessary, intrusive piece of legislation.

This law really needs to get into the courts and ruled as an unconstitutional violation of the first amendment.

Depend on Democrats to Do the Right Thing

The Democratic poll watcher who was the first person to pick up the bounty from Texas LG Dan Patrick said he didn't do it for the money, he did it because it was the right thing to do.

Isn't it just a complete commentary on the total collapse of the morality and ethics of the GOP that someone has to offer money for them to "do the right thing"? And the catch in Patrick's payoff is that they have to produce evidence leading to a conviction of voter fraud in Pennsylvania. Good luck with that. I predict Patrick's campaign funds, save the $25,000 he paid out to a Democrat, is safe.

There isn't anything that screams "there was NO massive voter fraud" any louder than the failure of the Trumpie-funded Cyber Ninjas to find any in Arizona, after spending $6 million of Trumpie funds and Arizona tax dollars. The fact that Dan Patrick has yet to pay a Republican informant runs a close second.

Democrats need to win this election in Virginia, top to bottom

I don't live there but have contributed and made phone bank calls. We need to win this big.

What About My Rights, Personal Freedom and Liberty?

YOU are not more important than ME and I am not more important than YOU. The boundary lines between your liberty and mine run along what causes the greater good for both of us and it requires education and a measure of wisdom, not ignorance and stupidity.

Trump Loyalists were talking about subverting the peaceful transfer of power in 2016

They were projecting it on to President Obama, claiming he was upset about Trump winning and was planning to use the powers of the oval office to extend his term. He wasn't of course, but it was Trump loyalists floating that idea out there, projecting it on to Obama to see how it went over. Then the whiny baby lost and they put their "talk" into a plan of action.

Are we paying attention to the warnings that Trump is going to try to end the Republic again?

Who's in charge of stopping him, where do I sign up and is anyone really taking this seriously or is it just good political buzz and generally gets ignored.

Stop voting against your own interests

It happens too much. Can we figure this out and get something going?

Nothing in the Bible leads to being anti-vax or anti-mask, so where does that come from?

In orthodox, Biblical Christian theology, there's nothing in the Bible that supports not getting a vaccination as a theological or doctrinal prohibition.
