Democrats press ahead on 2.2 trillion stimulus bill

WASHINGTON — With top Washington negotiators significantly apart on a huge COVID-19 relief bill, Democrats controlling the House are plunging ahead with a partisan debate on their next option — a $2.2 trillion measure that’s anathema to the White House and Capitol Hill Republicans.

Thursday’s vote was chiefly sought by moderate Democrats who say the party needs to display greater flexibility. But the end result was a partisan debate around the legislation that was expected to end with a mostly party-line vote, leaving lawmakers no closer to an outcome.

Clearly Republicans won't support this, but what if Democrats force a vote in the Senate to put the GOP senators on record against it -and potentially force a veto of the stimulus bill by the president?

538 spreading the doomsday crisis scenario of the election

https://fivethirtyeight.com/videos/how-trump-could-spark-a-full-blown-election-crisis/

Absolutely ridiculous. All of it is based on the idea that votes will not be counted by election day. But most swing states will actually report the mail ballots and in-person early vote count first (OH, FL, NC, AZ and TX), as those will be the first votes counted. Also, if the state legislators try to appoint their own electors, the Democratic AG can simply arrest them for actually breaking the law. This is so irresponsible of the media.

In 2016, 41% of all ballots were cast before election day.

According to: https://www.eac.gov/news/2017/06/29/newly-released-2016-election-administration-and-voting-survey-provides-snapshot

I might hasten a guess of close to 75% or 80% of votes will be cast early this election, based on the high turnout in early voting/mail in voting so far with 2.1 million people (at this point in 2016, I don't think we even reached a million). These votes will nearly all be counted before election day(minus the slow counting states of Mi, Wi and Pa), and reported when polls close. Needless to say, I'm feeling good about things right now

What percentage of votes do you believe will be cast before election day, 2020?

Is true justice blind?

Not speaking about how it is administered in the system we have, but rather what it should be. Or should true justice be wielded selectively? I'm legitimately curious.

"White privilege" does not mean white people should be treated with the same indecency as others.

It means we should likely be treating the other groups at the higher standard we generally see with whites. It seems too often that folks misconstrue this idea and advocate for mistreatment of folks simply because we don't like them, or because we know they had it easier than they would have if they were black. This thought process is not justice -it is vengeance. And if we truly aspire to achieve a fair system of justice then yes, we should call out the system when it is unjust -even if it is unjust to those we don't like (ie Parscale being tackled onto pavement completely unprovoked and inebriated).

Last night did biden agree not to declare victory until all votes are certified?

That seems silly if most votes are counted and a reasonable call can be made that night (ie if Biden wins NC, fl and oh it would be more than obvious he won -even if wi mi and pa are not mostly counted yet).

What was it called "free discussion"?

That wasn't a good idea. Also, the moderator should be able to turn their mics off.

I cannot watch this anymore.

Just sent another $15 to Joe Biden. After this deluge of misinformation from Trump, that last fundraising haul is going to come in very handy. Let's keep on giving, and shut this motherf*cker down.

"Show us your tax returns!" "You'll see it as soon as their finished."

So he hasn't done his taxes in 4 years?
