'My son is a great patriot:' Mom of horned Arizona protester speaks out

Snip~
""My son is a great patriot, a veteran, a person who loves this country,” Martha Chansley, his mother, said.

Chansley said the attention has been surprising.

“I was surprised. I think at the time I don’t think he did anything wrong,” Martha said.

Chansley claims her son wasn’t part of the violence.

She said Jake told her that he simply walked through already open doors, roaming the halls and making his way to the Senate floor.

“If I'm not mistaken, isn’t it the people’s house?” Chansley said."

Yes, Congress should impeach Trump before he leaves office - Laurence H. Tribe and Josh Matz

Snip ~
"As the House of Representatives takes the extraordinary step of considering a second impeachment of President Trump during his final days in office, two questions loom large: Did Trump commit impeachable offenses? And does it make sense to impeach even though the Senate may not try and convict him before he leaves office on Jan. 20? The answer to both questions is yes."

Snip~
The article of impeachment circulated Friday by Democratic Reps. David N. Cicilline (R.I.), Jamie B. Raskin (Md.) and Ted Lieu (Calif.) accurately captures the gravity of Trump’s misconduct. It situates his action within his “prior efforts to subvert and obstruct the certification of the results of the 2020 presidential election.” And it recognizes the terrible damage that Trump, through his incitement, inflicted on the nation as a whole.

Trump’s actions might well qualify as federal crimes. But that determination is beside the point when it comes to measuring impeachable offenses. Impeachment exists to protect us from future threats rather than to punish prior misconduct. It does not require proof of a crime.

Snip~
But the Constitution does not require slow motion at times of crisis, especially when the nation witnessed an impeachable offense in real time. Here, holding protracted hearings would be a foolish undertaking, akin to playing a sonata on the decks of the Titanic. The House can and should act with dispatch.

Der Spiegel International - "Those Who Incite Bear Responsibility"

Snip -

"The attack on the Capitol in Washington, D.C., isn't just an assault on American democracy – it's an assault on every democracy around the world."

Snip -
"The radical mob does not represent the majority in the United States. The vast majority of American voters stand firmly behind democracy and voted decisively against a right-wing populist. And it’s not just Donald Trump who needs to finally accept that. Every Republican with a modicum of responsibility needs to finally repudiate Trump once and for all. The American courts have ruled clearly that this was a lawful election. Those who disrespect that election result are disrespecting their own people."

How is it that the insurrection was planned on social media in full public view

and yet there was little security present at the Capitol Building on the traitorous day?

January 7, 2021

Am I wrong in thinking that it is only through sheer good fortune that other terrorist groups

have not stormed the US Capitol in the last 4 years (or any other time) and taken out a large cohort of our elected officials in an effort to destroy our Republic?
Yesterday's horror story is proof that the Capitol Building is insufficiently protected and its occupants, our elected leaders, are woefully vulnerable to attack.
How on Earth can this be possible? It's like it's all built out of sand and we've just been lucky rather than smart and prepared.
This is wrong on so many levels.
If Trump's dummies can do what they did yesterday, what happens when a professional group gives it a go?

Where the fuck are we?

Question: What would have happened if those who stormed the Capitol, climbed the walls

and breached the offices of our elected officials had been terrorist sleeper cells? Would the Capitol police have let them in, taken selfies with them and then escorted them out as though they'd just attended an open house party? I mean, if they were White terrorists? Or is it just that they thought they were good guys because they were sent there by the Instigator in Chief?

Gentle police presence as Capitol Building was terrorized by anarchists but brutal for peaceful BLM

protesters earlier this year.
Interesting that the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Association of Police Organizations were the ONLY unions that endorsed Trump's candidacy 2020.

There's a 6:00 PM curfew in Washington.

Why are no arrests being made?

January 7, 2021

For the record. Fuck You, Ted Cruz.

That is all.
