Governor Asa Hutchinson says 'shelter at home' is too confusing for

[link:https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/shelter-at-home-will-help-save-many-many-american-lives-so-why-isnt-arkansas-doing-it/522-cae2b8b7-0b95-4f65-b62a-6cce937b85de|

Would you not be insulted by this statement if you lived there? 😳🤯

When scientists came up with their estimates on how many people could die if we didn't flatten the curve, they based it on an expectation all 50 states would have shelter at home orders in place by now. But now those estimates will have to be changed, because Arkansas and a few other states have governors who don't think it's necessary. In the words of Governor Asa Hutchinson, 'shelter at home' is too confusing for Arkansans because of all the exceptions.

That's insulting. I think most folks can figure out what essential work activity is and isn't.

No Mid-South state was a trendsetter on this issue. Tennessee and Mississippi governors only issued their orders this week.

Please governor, those of us who live across the border from your state wish you'd listen to the experts.

The virtual commemoration will include portions of the MLK-50 celebration, including remarks from civil rights icons, and will culminate with an excerpt from Dr. King's "Mountaintop" speech and a moment of silent reflection.

This is a daycare facility, located at 3710 Summer Avenue, that is unique and special to the area and includes activities like bus rides to and from daycare, recess, and even field trips. The staff tells Local 24 News that the biggest change they have seen during the coronavirus pandemic is the interaction they have with the dogs' parents.

So, my trip to grocery today

I've been holed up for weeks & have only bn out twice.

I'd bn thinking of getting a huge precooked ham to boil. Scratch that. No longer $1.39/lb, rather $4/lb.

So, as I was standing there taking this in, a nice lady who was maintaining appropriate distance smiled from.around her mask & said, "Oh, I'm trying to figure out what to plan for Easter."

Now, when I enter a likely highly-toxic environ, my goal is in & out asap, not shoot the shit.

My reply: "Fuck Easter! I'm in survival mode!"

Her:

Priceless.

That saud, ya shitbag Kroger is price gouging big time. 3 lbs potatoes =$7!

"Cheap" eggs $1.99/ doz.

Everything was marked up.

Very very little meat, produce, chocolate 😢. Zero pasta. Real shit show.

Constant social distancing audio recording playing over & over. Employees not distancing from each other or customers.

No marks on floors where to stand in line, plexiglass shields for cashiers, masks, or gloves on employees.

So, if you wonder "Why?" about the hotspots in south, this is it.

We have 1 tiny store that they could not keep stocked pre-pandemic. Next closest is about 15 miles.

Also the store whose meat is often rotten because it's so expensive. I've literally seen burger there as gray as the roads. Almost got sick instantly when I saw it.

Wonder if ham lady has recovered yet? Surprised I didn't get the ysyal, "You must be from up north, cuz you say what you mean!"

Oh, & paper products section so empty I think they sucked the dust off the shelves. No limits on anything either. I was there about 30 min aftrr opening this morning, so guessing some jerk bought every paper goods product in the store. 🤬 surreal.

NO ICU BEDS!!!!!! 😳🤯

“St. John the Baptist Parish, just southeast of Baton Rouge, La., has a population of just over 43,000 — and the highest per capita coronavirus mortality rate in the nation,” Politico reported. “In New York, a 1,000-bed Navy hospital ship is now docked and officials have been setting up makeshift morgues and marshaling thousands of health care workers. But St. John has no hospital within the parish boundaries, and many of its neighboring parishes have no ICU beds.”

MEMPHIS, Tenn. —Shelby County Health Department Director Alisa Haushalter said dozens of people at the health department work to trace those individuals every day, but in order to keep anyone from slipping through the cracks, they need more help.

Haushalter said the University of Memphis is working on a possible solution to lighten the workload.

“The University of Memphis is working on an app that does allow for monitoring where people are and determining if people come in less than that six-feet contact,” Haushalter said.

As of right now, not much information on the app has been released.
