Trump Nosedives in His Favorite Poll, Now -11 in Net Approval as Numbers Tumble By 6 Points

“I have retained highly respected pollster, McLaughlin & Associates, to analyze todays [sic] CNN Poll (and others), which I felt were FAKE based on the incredible enthusiasm we are receiving,” President Donald Trump tweeted on Monday.

Based on the results of a new poll out Tuesday, the “and others” pile at McLaughlin & Associates is likely about to grow by one.

In its latest daily tracking poll, Rasmussen Reports showed a six-point swing overnight in the president’s approval ratings. After clocking in with 47 percent approval and 52 percent disapproval among Americans on Monday, Tuesday’s poll showed Trump at 44 percent approval and 55 percent disapproval.

The survey is ordinarily a Trump favorite, one which he often cites in tweets. Rasmussen has consistently shown one of the highest approval ratings for Trump among all pollsters — with numbers putting the president at or even above 50 percent for some of his term.

George Floyd protesters turn White House fence into memorial wall

Source: Penn Live

Protesters in Washington are in the process of turning the fence erected around Lafayette Square to push them away from the White House into a memorial wall honoring victims of police violence and racial injustice.

Photos and video from Washington on Sunday show a number of protest signs mounted on the fence by demonstrators bearing messages that include “Black Lives Matter,” “No justice, no peace,” “Say their names” and other rallying cries of those who have marched through the nation’s capital over the 10 days.

<...>

Washington has seen daily protests for more than a week following the death of George Floyd, the 46-year-old black man who died May 25 when a Minneapolis police officer kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes during an arrest.

The officer, Derek Chauvin, was fired and later arrested and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, while three other officers on the scene were fired and later charged with aiding and abetting.

The AP does some real journalism and discovers that "antifa" is pretty much non-existent

As Trump blames antifa, protest records show scant evidence
By MICHAEL BIESECKER, MICHAEL KUNZELMAN, JAKE BLEIBERG and ALANNA DURKIN RICHER

<...>

The Associated Press analyzed court records, employment histories, social media posts and other sources of information for 217 people arrested last weekend in Minneapolis and the District of Columbia, two cities at the epicenter of the protests across the United States.

Rather than outside agitators, more than 85% of those arrested by police were local residents. Of those charged with such offenses as curfew violations, rioting and failure to obey law enforcement, only a handful appeared to have any affiliation with organized groups.

Those charged with more serious offenses related to looting and property destruction – such as arson, burglary and theft – often had past criminal records. But they, too, were overwhelmingly local residents taking advantage of the chaos.

Social media posts indicate only a few of those arrested are left-leaning activists, including a self-described anarchist. But others had indications of being on the political right, including some Trump supporters.

<...>

There have been violent acts, including property destruction and theft. Police officers and protesters have been seriously injured and killed. But federal law enforcement officials have offered little evidence that antifa-aligned protesters could be behind a movement that has appeared nearly simultaneously in hundreds of cities and towns in all 50 states since Floyd’s death.

Article details how Trump has turned the White House into a fortress and DC into a war zone...

WASHINGTON — For the past three years, I’ve covered a culture war from inside the White House. This week, it felt more like I was covering an actual war.

The White House has become a fortress inside a fortress following the protests triggered by the death of George Floyd. Entering feels like going into a Green Zone in the nation’s capital, with block after block of tall, black reinforced fencing erected in recent days.

There are tan military vehicles rolling past the Pennsylvania Avenue Starbucks and camo-clad troops patrolling the corner where tourists used to buy red, white and blue USA sweatshirts.

Lafayette Square, across from the White House — normally full of selfie-taking tourists, older men playing chess and a handful of often-eccentric protesters — is now behind the steel fence perimeter and filled with National Guard troops and armed Secret Service agents. Protesters have been pushed back so far they can no longer be seen and are barely heard from the People’s House.

Covering this White House, I’ve witnessed countless moments, big and small, that I could have never anticipated. This week provided more than its fair share.

Trump and His Press Secretary May Have Voted Illegally

Source: Politicalwire

“Even as they both attack the idea of voting by mail, President Trump and his new press secretary may have voted by mail illegally, using residential addresses on their registrations that were not their residences,” the HuffPost reports.

“Kayleigh McEnany cast Florida ballots in 2018 using her parents’ address in Tampa, even though she lived in Washington, D.C., and held a New Jersey driver’s license. Trump cast a Florida ballot this year using a business address in Palm Beach, where he had promised the town government he would not live.”

Authorities seized thousands of dollars of masks intended to shield protesters from COVID-19

Source: Salon

The U.S. Postal Service told a Black Lives Matter-affiliated group that face masks it sent to protect protesters from the new coronavirus were seized by law enforcement, according to a new report.

The Movement for Black Lives bought tens of thousands of dollars worth of masks they planned to distribute to protesters marching against George Floyd's death and police brutality across the country, HuffPost reported. But the first shipment of 2,000 masks sent from Oakland to Washington, St. Louis, New York City and Minneapolis never left the state.

The USPS tracking numbers indicate that the masks were "Seized by Law Enforcement," according to HuffPost's Ryan Reilly, and urged the group to "contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service for further information."

The Oakland custom printing shop Movement Ink said on Instagram that they have not been told why the shipment was seized.

Texas GOP official claims George Floyd's death was 'staged' to hurt Trump

The governor of Texas is calling for the resignation of Bexar County Republican Party Chair Cynthia Brehm after she posted a conspiracy theory on her Facebook page about the death of George Floyd, the Statesman reports.

Brehm, who has claimed that the coronavirus pandemic is a Democratic hoax, suggested in her post that Floyd’s death was staged in order to damage President Trump. The post has since been deleted.

“These comments are disgusting and have no place in the Republican Party or in public discourse,” said John Wittman, who is Governor Greg Abbot’s communications director. “Cynthia Brehm should immediately resign her position as chair of the Bexar County Republican Party.”

Why is the Texas governor shocked that there are crazies in the Republican party?

Laura Ingraham Says Drew Brees is 'Allowed to Have an Opinion', but Says LeBron James Should Shut Up

Hmmmm.....what's the difference between LeBron James and Drew Brees?

Can't quite put my finger on it.....

After Telling LeBron to ‘Shut Up and Dribble,’ Laura Ingraham Says Drew Brees ‘Allowed to Have an Opinion’
By Leia IdlibyJun 4th, 2020, 1:59 pm

Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who once told LeBron James to “shut up and dribble,” defended New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees’ stance against anthem kneelers, adding that “he’s allowed to have an opinion.”

In 2018, Ingraham told Lebron to “shut up and dribble” and to “keep the political commentary to yourself,” responding to his claim that President Donald Trump doesn’t “give a f*ck about the people.”

Apparently walking back on her opinion that athletes should stay away from political commentary this week, Ingraham expressed that she was deeply upset that Brees received backlash for saying he “will never agree” with Colin Kaepernick’s form of protesting.

“He is allowed to have his view about what kneeling and the flag means to him. He is a person. He has some worth, I would imagine,” Ingraham said on Wednesday night. “I mean, this is beyond football though. This is totalitarian conduct. This is Stalinist.”

The contrast is so damn striking, it's impossible to ignore

Obama calmly walking the streets of Washington DC and mingling with ordinary people...

Meanwhile Trump needs to be flanked by heavily armed police in order to do the same thing....

While he walks past "Fuck Trump" graffiti....

Trump looking to deploy armored vehicles, military units, aircraft, and tanks throughout the USA

On Tuesday, The Daily Beast detailed how President Donald Trump himself has been behind the push to use the military to control the protests against the police killing of George Floyd — to the extent that he actually asked about specific military equipment that would be available for that purpose.

<...>

“These Pentagon officials added that it was the White House, not the Defense Department, that was pushing for active military might in the streets,” continued the report. “In particular, the president has pressed aides and Pentagon officials for graphic details on the kind of armored vehicles, military units, aircraft, and even ‘tanks’ that they could potentially send to maintain order in U.S. areas rocked by protests and rioting, according to two people familiar with recent discussions.”
