Biden-voting counties equal 70% of America's economy

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/the-avenue/2020/11/09/biden-voting-counties-equal-70-of-americas-economy-what-does-this-mean-for-the-nations-political-economic-divide/

Biden captured virtually all of the counties with the biggest economies in the country (depicted by the largest blue tiles in the nearby graphic), including flipping the few that Clinton did not win in 2016.

By contrast, Trump won thousands of counties in small-town and rural communities with correspondingly tiny economies (depicted by the red tiles). Biden’s counties tended to be far more diverse, educated, and white-collar professional, with their aggregate nonwhite and college-educated shares of the economy running to 35% and 36%, respectively, compared to 16% and 25% in counties that voted for Trump.

In short, 2020’s map continues to reflect a striking split between the large, dense, metropolitan counties that voted Democratic and the mostly exurban, small-town, or rural counties that voted Republican. Blue and red America reflect two very different economies: one oriented to diverse, often college-educated workers in professional and digital services occupations, and the other whiter, less-educated, and more dependent on “traditional” industries.

Joy Reid: Trump Supporters Decided All of His Cruelty Was Fine, So Yeah, We're Gonna Dunk on Y'all

Joy Reid: Trump Supporters Decided All of His ‘Cruelty’ Was Fine, So ‘Yeah, We’re Gonna Dunk on Y’all’ Today

https://www.mediaite.com/election-2020/joy-reid-trump-supporters-decided-all-of-his-cruelty-was-fine-so-yeah-were-gonna-dunk-on-yall-today/

“We have had four years of mass deaths. 240,000 of our fellow Americans have died and Donald Trump was vowing to kill another several million of us through herd immunity. He didn’t care about the dead. He ripped 1,000 children from their parents without a second thought. Stephen Miller has been installed in the White House for four years practicing open, vile racism and xenophobia and making it policy.

Millions of federal employees, hundreds of thousands of them have been barred from talking about systemic racism. They reversed policy on everything that was designed to make this country more fair for people like me. My immigrant family members, none of them could have come here under the rules that they placed against people who are Black and brown and coming from countries that are majority Muslim. They banned Muslim travelers, grandmas that wanted to see their grandkids. The cruelty, the hideousness of this administration. The awfulness.

They were threatening to take away my friends that are gay, that are married, and invalidate their marriages. They put in a Supreme Court that threatened to take away our health care, our desperately-needed health care. All my kids except one would be off my health care if they accomplished that. They are threatening our lives. They don’t mind if we die. So I’m sorry if the Trump supporters are feeling a little sad this morning, but, yes, we’re going to dunk on y’all, because you 70 million people said all of that was fine, do more of that, just give me a few more pennies in tax cuts if you don’t make a million dollars a year. You didn’t even really get anything. All you got was cruelty towards people like me.”

Will the media now go on breathlessly about how the GOP failed to reach urban voters in 2020?

The same way they went on for months about how Hillary failed to reach white "working class" voters in the Midwest in 2016?

It looks like Biden will not only have the same number of electoral votes as Trump did in 2016, but he will have received the most votes in American history when all is said and done.

Will the media spend months interviewing urban voters in cities like Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, etc?

Don't hold your breath.

Biden is now projected to receive more votes for president than any other candidate in U.S. history

-----

Former Vice President Joe Biden is projected to receive more votes for president than any other candidate in U.S. election history. With many precincts still reporting results, he had already gathered 69,165,955 votes on Wednesday morning, compared to former President Barack Obama's 2008 popular vote total of 69,498,516.

The news follows reports on Tuesday night that the 2020 election was shaping up to have the highest voter turnout since 1908, when 65 percent of eligible Americans voted, The New York Times reports. The country was on track for around 160 million votes this year, which would put the eligible turnout rate at around 67 percent.

Trump Telling Advisers He's Spooked at the Prospect of Being Indicted if He Loses

President Donald Trump is reportedly telling his advisers that he is becoming increasingly nervous about the fact that he could be indicted if he loses the election on Tuesday.

Trump is currently protected from indictment under all federal laws because he’s president, but if he loses, that would all change.

Trump has gone through great lengths to avoid releasing his taxes, leaving him vulnerable to being indicted for tax fraud. Cyrus Vance Jr., the district attorney for Manhattan, is also probing the possibility that Trump has provided insurers with false information regarding his financial position in order to receive lower premiums and interest rates on loans.

In addition to Trump’s potential crimes, numerous people connected to the president — through his campaign, his presidency, or even his business — have been charged with crimes.

Again?! Trump Campaign Strands Rallygoers in the Cold for a Third Time, This Time in Georgia

For the third time in less than a week, President Donald Trump’s campaign ran into a transportation snafu that left hundreds of people stranded after his rallies.

As the 2020 election comes to a close, Trump held a rally at the Richard B. Russell Regional Airport in Rome, Georgia on Sunday night. Loads of Trump fans attended the event as the president ginned up support while the state remains in play.

Newsweek reports that thousands of people were bussed to the event, but when it was over, there weren’t nearly enough shuttle buses to accommodate everyone. NBC News’ Julie Tsirkin took multiple videos from the aftermath of the rally, documenting scores of people who had to await transportation for hours in windy 46-degree weather.

“Some of the folks left stranded were older and disabled,” Tsirkin reported. “Multiple people tried to hitch rides from strangers amid the pandemic.”
