Timeline: Trump, Barr, and the Halkbank Case on Iran Sanctions-Busting
by Ryan Goodman and Danielle Schulkin
July 27, 2020
At its heart, the prosecution of the Turkish bank Halkbank involves a multibillion-dollar criminal scheme to evade U.S. sanctions against Iran.
There is significant evidence in the public record that President Donald Trumps directed Attorney General William Barr to try to stop the prosecution of the bank and its associates. It would not necessarily be improper for a president to seek such an outcome in the face of a strong competing national interest.
But it would be highly improper, if not criminal, for the president and his attorney general to do so if motivated by the presidents personal or financial interests.
Which was it? Secretary of State Rex Tillerson reportedly considered the presidents effort to get the Justice Department to drop the case an illegal interference in an ongoing investigation.

"..What May Have Held Up The Next Stimulus Bill"? (A new Hotel that competed with Trump Int Hotel.)
You Wont Believe What May Have Held Up The Next Stimulus BillJuly 24, 2020
....the next stimulus package, you probably heard that Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) was set to release it yesterday, Thursday, July 24th. It was then pushed to next week.
SNIP
Up until this point, all the discussions were among Republicans and the White House. We still had disagreements over the unemployment benefits but those were actively being negotiated and Senator McConnell was still on track to deliver a draft proposal yesterday.
Then it came to a stop as the White House wanted to look over the fine details.
According to the New York Times NYT, one of the sticking points involves the F.B.I. headquarters in Washington D.C. This seems like an odd thing to have paused a stimulus package that millions of Americans are waiting on but its because this has been a priority for the President since before he came into office.
*The Times reports:
The administrations push for language to deal with a new F.B.I. headquarters was among multiple last-minute snags in the negotiations.
Mr. Trump has previously taken steps to block a planned move by the bureau to the Washington suburbs and to turn its existing headquarters space over to a commercial developer, who could have installed a hotel to compete with the Trump International Hotel, which sits a block away.

Barr's Long History Manipulating Law to Put Federal Forces on U.S. Streets
https://twitter.com/mandalorchick/status/1285326402884120580From the Article:
https://www.justsecurity.org/71512/portlands-pretext-barrs-long-history-manipulating-law-to-put-federal-forces-on-u-s-streets/
Attorney General Barr has been building his playbook for using federal forces against an unwilling state for decades.
In an interview with the Miller Center in 2001, Barr explained his strategy for deploying federal troops to address unrest in the Virgin Islands after a major hurricane in 1989.
At the time of the incident, Barr was an assistant attorney general and head of the Department of Justices Office of Legal Counsel. He boasted that during this time he found a way to deploy federal forces based on a legal justification that appears to now being played out in Portland:
Barr: We started quickly looking at the legal books. What authority do we have to go in there and start enforcing the law in St. Croix? We looked at some statutes, and we finally decided that without Presidential authority we could send down law enforcement people to defend the federal function.
That is, we said, People are interfering with the operation of our courts and so on. I said, We can send people down to defend the federal function, keep our courts open, and if they see any crime being committed in front of them, then, as law enforcement officers, they can make the arrest.
Our object was just to get federal law enforcement down there and play it by ear. Technically, we couldnt send them down to"

Portland Federal Agents Accused of War Crimes for Destroying Medical Supplies/Geneva Convention
Portland Federal Agents Accused of War Crimes for Destroying Medical Supplieshttps://twitter.com/politvidchannel/status/1286359024330407936

Federal authorities have been accused of violating the Geneva Convention after apparently destroying medical equipment during protests in Portland.
Reporter Sergio Olmos shared a video on Twitter Tuesday night showing medical supplies and protective gear covered in an orange liquid.
"It appears that federal officers, during dispersal, pepper sprayed the medical supplies in the tents," Olmos wrote.
This is Fubar. The Geneva Convention states that destroying medical equipment is a war crime violation. Yet, here we are in Portland," Fiegl-Ding wrote.
In another tweet, he added: "Attacking medical units violates half a dozen conventions and international statutes, not only Geneva Convention but also International Criminal Court statutes. But hey, Chad Wolf, Bill Barr, and Trump say it's okay!"

The First Geneva Convention states that there should be no obstacle to the humanitarian activities and that wounded and sick shall be respected and protected in all circumstances. Medical units, i.e. hospitals and mobile medical facilities, may in no circumstances be attacked

Millennials, Gen Z in battleground states want Biden to pick Black woman as VP
https://www.politico.com/amp/news/2020/07/23/biden-black-women-veep-379460?__twitter_impression=truePicking a Black woman to be his vice president could boost presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden with young voters, white women and other key groups, according to a new poll of likely 2020 voters in seven battleground states.
The poll, which was conducted by Democratic strategist Karen Finney and veteran pollster Cornell Belcher, found 60 percent of Millennial and Generation Z voters in key swing states say its important Biden pick a Black woman to be his running mate.
SNIP
Across all demographics, nearly half of battleground voters who arent currently supporting President Donald Trump agree its important to pick a Black woman, 27 percentage points higher than those who say its important for Biden to pick a white woman.
Commissioned by Higher Heights for America, an organization devoted to increasing the number of Black women in political office, the poll surveyed voters across Florida, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
Belchers firm polled 802 registered voters 18 and older in battleground states but asked only those who are currently not supporting Trump undecideds and those inclined to support Biden about the vice presidential pick. It was conducted July 14-19 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent.
