Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., said Tuesday that she would lift a hold on more than 1,100 senior military promotions after the Department of Defense assured her that it did not block the promotion of Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman — a key witness in the impeachment inquiry of President Trump.

Duckworth, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and combat veteran, put the hold on promotions earlier this month, demanding written confirmation from Defense Secretary Mike Esper that the former National Security Council aide had been recommended for advancement to Full Colonel.

"Donald Trump's unprecedented efforts to further politicize our military by retaliating against Lt. Col. Vindman — for doing his patriotic duty of telling the truth under oath — are unconscionable," the senator said in a statement announcing that she would lift the hold. "I'm glad the Department of Defense was finally able to set the record straight that Vindman had earned and was set to receive a promotion to Colonel."

"We must always protect the merit-based system that is the foundation of our Armed Forces from political corruption and unlawful retaliation," she added.

He will do, and has done, almost anything that pops into his twisted mind to win his candidate an election—other than, you know, endorse a non-shit candidate and run an honest campaign.
Court orders don’t silence him.
Politesse doesn’t constrain him.
Looming incarceration hasn’t slowed him down.

He is the raging id of the Republican party, and if Jerry Nadler or Richard Neal had one thimbleful of his cornered-rat quintessence, Trump would be long gone.

For almost half a century, Stone has operated in the shadows of Republican power, like Jack the Ripper.
He’s had an outsized, and adverse, impact on the history of our country.

Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-Va.) revealed on Tuesday that he has tested positive for COVID-19, making him the ninth member of Congress with a confirmed or presumed case.

Griffith's office said in a statement that he took a coronavirus test over the weekend after "developing possible symptoms" and has since been self-isolating.

"Although he does not currently have significant symptoms, he will continue to self-isolate as he performs his duties on behalf of Virginia's Ninth Congressional District," the statement said.

Griffith's diagnosis comes five days after he participated in a press conference on Capitol Hill with members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus to push for reopening schools in the fall amid the coronavirus pandemic despite safety concerns from educators and some parents.

Stone was convicted last year on seven counts related to the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election, including witness tampering, lying to Congress and obstruction. But last week, Trump commuted Stone’s 40-month sentence.

“It’s a continuation of the cover-up,” Clinton said on “The Daily Show” on Monday. “Because the one thing that Trump is fearful of when it comes to his being president is that finally we will see how illegitimate his victory actually was.”

Clinton said that Trump fears that people will see that he was involved in the effort to obtain and use foreign help to win the presidency, and Stone, she said, was critical to that effort.
