Chauvin's request for a new trial was just DENIED, hours ahead of the sentencing

Derek Chauvin’s request for a new trial was just DENIED by Judge Peter Cahill, hours ahead of the sentencing.
10:09 AM · Jun 25, 2021

The judge wrote in part that Chauvin “failed to demonstrate that the Court abused its discretion or committed error such that Defendant was deprived of his constitutional right to a fair trial.” Read the full document:

Note, the request for a new trial is different than an appeal. Derek Chauvin would have 90 days to appeal post sentencing today

Sentencing is around 1:30pm CT

Rock climbers & Thrill seekers/"What the clean energy future looks like from a 262-foot wind turbine

What the clean energy future looks like from a 262-foot wind turbine

Hundreds of feet above the ground, suspended by ropes and battered by powerful winds, Matthew Kelly is living his best life.

Kelly is a wind turbine technician, and my colleague Brian van der Brug recently took pictures of him repairing a fiberglass blade at a wind farm in California’s Montezuma Hills, at the northeastern end of the Bay Area. Brian’s pictures are worth a thousand words and then some.

Kelly works for Rope Partner, which is based in Santa Cruz and was founded by rock climber Chris Bley in 2001.
Bley was inspired by a chance encounter in Joshua Tree National Park with two German climbers who made a living scaling construction sites and churches that needed repairs. His timing couldn’t have been better, given the rapid growth of the American wind energy industry.

Rope Partner has a roster of about 100 technicians, according to the company’s vice president of business development, Lucas Llado. Many of them are climbers, rafters, skiers and other adventurous outdoors types who spend part of the year scaling wind turbines. The winter months are the slowest for repairs, with jobs picking up as the weather improves in the spring.

Here’s a shot of Kelly perched on the damaged blade, putting his rock climbing background to good use:

Median pay for a wind turbine technician is $56,230 per year, or $27.03 per hour — well above the national median wage of $41,950, or $20.17 per hour, according to the federal agency.

"And Hillary was right, "women's rights are human rights."

My question is why would any woman, particularly in the USA give up her human RIGHT to be able to choose the direction or path HER life may take. Roe vs. Wade, I'm looking at you and the women Justices that sit on SCOTUS"

The Youngbloods - 1967 'Get Together'

Come on People Now, Smile on Your Brother’: The Making of ‘Get Together’ - WSJ https://www.wsj.com/articles/come-on-people-now-smile-on-your-brother-the-making-of-get-together-11591721529

The Youngbloods were an American rock band consisting of Jesse Colin Young (vocals, bass), Jerry Corbitt (guitar), Lowell "Banana" Levinger (guitar and electric piano), and Joe Bauer (drums). Despite receiving critical acclaim, they never achieved widespread popularity. Their only U.S. Top 40 entry was Chet Powers' "Get Together"

Love is but a song we sing
Fear's the way we die
You can make the mountains ring
Or make the angels cry
Though the bird is on the wing
And you may not know why

Come on, people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

Some may come and some may go
He will surely pass
When the one that left us here
Returns for us at last
We are but a moment's sunlight
Fading in the grass

Come on, people now
Smile on your brother
Everybody get together
Try to love one another right now

How can MEDIA "write these articles without the words "foreign," "organized crime," or "money laund"

Eric Garland

It shocks me how one can write these articles without the words "foreign," "organized crime," or "money laundering" even once.
If you write something like "Some people familiar with financial issue prosecutions say many suspects do not want to go to prison," that's not helpful.

"The question is *whose money is laundered through Trump's buildings.* And we mostly know who. THAT'S why they won't flip.

And one of the reasons a foreign-owned Mobster ended up in the White House is that the U.S. media kept reframing every story so that the foreign intelligence and transnational organized crime were cropped out.

Well. It's still the real story. Some of us will tell it."

Replying to
You say put a reporter on MOB connections. They say how bout we put 4 reporters on a puff piece instead?

Replying to @ericgarland

"The GOP's 60 year War on the News Media was a resounding success.

It/they were right to fear the money and power of The Preachers & Plutocrats, which included several of the small bunch who own/ed large parts of the MSM.

Producers & reporters knew very well which stories might advance their careers and which might kill them.

One of those stories to avoid was talking about exactly the false, hypocritical "neutrality", which meant "Don't stir up the Right"

Things changed only as maintaining the pretense cost more than haltingly adding Reality"

Pres Biden Opposed to letting the federal gasoline tax rise at the rate of inflation to fund infrast

The White House made clear Friday that President Joe Biden was opposed to letting the federal gasoline tax rise at the rate of inflation to help pay for an infrastructure package that a bipartisan group of 21 senators is trying to craft.

The gas tax increase was part of an early package that called for $579 billion in new spending on roads, bridges, rail and public transit.
It’s unclear if it will make the final cut and the White House seems intent on making sure it doesn’t.

“After the extraordinarily hard times that ordinary Americans endured in 2020 — job losses, shrinking incomes, squeezed budgets — he is simply not going to allow Congress to raise taxes on those who suffered the most.”

The federal gas tax stands at 18.4 cents a gallon and has not increased since 1993. It helps pay for highways and mass transit programs around the country.
Congress has traditionally relied on the user-pay principle to pay for road and bridge work, but is increasingly relying on general funds to accomplish that task.
Lawmakers from both parties are wary of attack ads accusing them of supporting a hike in gas prices.

Oregon Sen. Ron Wyden, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, said that indexing the gas tax to inflation was a nonstarter for him.

“It’s another hit on working people,” Wyden said.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, said a gas tax hike is a “Republican thing.”
