Watergate Prosecutor: Barr Dropping Flynn Case 'A Clear Coverup' - MSNBC
From a few hours back:
Trump and Barr will absolutely, positively have to be criminally prosecuted when this nightmare is over, simply that the Rule of Law might might reemerge in whatever remains of the Republic. I'm not a lawyer, but my suggested charge for both would be Treason, with capital punishment the result of a guilty verdict.
How the ex-"president" is dispatched, any method will do. But for Billy Boy Barr, I would request that we construct a guillotine, so his big fat head can be redacted from the rest of his body!
Oh Yeah, Reopening the Country is a GREAT Idea!

Well, that's the Rockin' Good News from China! To further lift our spirits, here's even more fun stuff, courtesy of The Atlantic:
If Donald Trump is Re-"Elected," We Are Dead
Not physically. I am in no way, shape, or form speaking in the context of pandemics, or really any medical issues at all.
No, the bases I am referencing are national, cultural, constitutional, and, if one is so inclined, spiritual.
If Donald John Trump somehow obtains another four years as president, the nomenclature will not be changed in the slightest: the name of our country will remain the United States of America. But in the event itself, that name will have been rendered oxymoronic, as we shall not be united but divided (our current situation, only now made permanent), nor will we be states in the classical understanding, as such terminology calls to mind words such as stasis, or, more bluntly, stability. There will be none of this, in any of our 50 political subdivisions, under a reinvigorated Trump Regime.
Of course, most destructively of all, we shall cease to be, in any meaningful way, America. No, there won't be foreign troops occupying our soil, not even Russian! But the fabric, the essence, and---dare this agnostic say?---the soul of our Republic will all perish, replaced by a Potemkinesque facade of democracy all our own, publicly going through the motions of freedom while our true rulers conspire and connive against us in their billion-dollar sinecures, doubtless gazing down in amusement at the rest of us, increasingly-destitute masses which may very well be huddled, but no longer yearning to breathe free, but merely to breathe, period, as the ever-more-toxic biosphere from which their obscene, unearned riches protect them wreaks disease, death and destruction on those of us who, far too late, have recognized the brand of the American Dream they have been selling for the scam that it really is!
On November 3, 2020, I don't give a flying fuck what it is you have to do in order to get every goddamn liberal you know off their asses, out the door, and to the polling place to vote for Joe Biden, far from a perfect man, but at least an actual man, unlike the Result-of-a-Genetic-Experiment-Gone-Horribly-Awry that currently occupies the White House. Personally, if I have to, I will break into the houses of every liberal I know and slap them awake, potential legal consequences be damned!
Shit has Really Gotten Real this time, folks. Act accordingly!

Slate: William Barr's DOJ Is Now Covering Up Crimes for Trump in Broad Daylight
By JEREMY STAHL

Boss and hatchet man.

In the extraordinary motion, Shea argued that the FBIs investigation of Flynn was based on frail and shifting justifications and that the case against him was too thin to prove beyond a reasonable doubt.
The effort on behalf of the president by Barr and Shea to cover up already confessed crimes is a further step toward the complete corruption of the Department of Justice. The department was left reeling earlier this year when, after Trumps urging, the same U.S. Attorneys office changed its sentence recommendation for another Trump associate and felon, Roger Stone, prompting the public withdrawal of all of the attorneys previously working on the case. All thats left, really, is for the department to start prosecuting Trumps political enemies.
The fact that DOJ has reversed itself 180 degrees to let a presidential ally off the hookafter he pled guiltyis yet another among the slinking cavalcade of humiliations Trump and Barr have inflicted on the [DOJ], former federal prosecutor and University of Missouri School of Law professor Frank Bowman told me.

This is why, if we ever get rid of Trump, both he and Barr have to be criminally prosecuted. Failure to do so will establish a precedent that will, sooner or later, prove FATAL to the continued existence of our Republic.
China's next-generation space capsule aces orbital maneuvers during test flight
Source: Space.com
By Tariq Malik, 2 hours ago
The uncrewed space capsule launched on China's first Long March 5B rocket Tuesday (May 5). The rocket is an upgraded version of China's heavy-lift Long March 5 and will be used to launch modules for China's planned space station, officials with the China National Space Administration (CNSA) have said. As of Thursday (May 7), the new space capsule had completed six of seven maneuvers to adjust its orbit, according to state media reports.
"So far, our spacecraft has been in very good condition," Dang Rong, a member of the mission's flight control expert group at the China Academy of Space Technology, said in a CCTV video. "Later, we are actually looking at the test of the return technology."
The solar-powered space capsule, which apparently does not yet have an official name, is the successor to China's Shenzhou space capsule, which has launched all six of the country's crewed spaceflights. Those missions began with the launch of astronaut Yang Liwei on the Shenzhou 5 in October 2003 and culminated with the October 2016 launch of two astronauts on the Shenzhou 11 flight to the country's Tiangong-2 space laboratory. Tiangong-2 fell to Earth in 2019 in a planned deorbit maneuver that dumped the spacecraft into the Pacific Ocean.
China's new crew capsule is expected to be the country's go-to spacecraft for future astronaut flights to a planned space station, and could eventually make deep-space missions to the moon. The spacecraft can carry up to seven astronauts and has been likened to a "space bus" with reusable "multi-mission" components, according to a translated description from the China Academy of Space Technology.

As a space nerd, I applaud this. But let's not forget that China is quickly and steadily advancing its program because it's a totalitarian country, with the ruling Communist Party not having to worry about public opinion over funding, and the engineers not having to worry about a change of administration resulting in the cancellation of the previous regimes's plan.
But I still applaud it. I just wish it were us advancing the boundaries of human spaceflight. Sadly, we abandoned that lofty position long ago, and I cannot bring myself to root against those still pursuing this goal.
How 'Never Trumpers' Crashed The Democratic Party
MAY 5, 2020, AT 2:18 PM
By Perry Bacon Jr. at FiveThirtyEight
Even by the slightly broader standard of influencing Republican politics, #NeverTrump has been largely unsuccessful. Trump won around 90 percent of self-identified Republican voters in 2016, similar to past GOP presidential nominees. About 90 percent of Republicans have approved of Trump throughout his first term, similar to George W. Bushs standing in his first four years in office. And with Trump as the face of the party, Republican congressional candidates won around 90 percent of the GOP vote in the 2018 midterms, just as in recent midterm elections. There is really only one anti-Trump figure among the 249 Republicans on Capitol Hill: Sen. Mitt Romney.
Never Trumpers tried to draft a high-profile Republican like Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan to run against Trump for the GOP nomination. That didnt pan out either. Facing fairly weak opponents, Trump easily won the GOP primaries that occurred earlier this year. Polls also suggest most Republicans will be strongly behind Trump this November too he is getting about 90 percent of the Republican vote in head-to-head match-ups with the presumptive Democratic nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden.
But Never Trumpers are increasingly involved in the Democratic Party and have gradually shifted their tactics in that direction effectively becoming a Never Trump and Never Bernie Sanders coalition. And they appear to be having more success shaping their new party than the one that many of them had been associated with for much of their lives. Heres how that shift has happened.

The piece goes on to explain, but the four-paragraph rules means you'll have to clink to read the rest of the article. Personally, I find the whole thing depressing: True, Bernie is not and has never been a member of the Democratic Party, but at least he voted the right way 90% of the time.
