Who is the Long Island serial killer?

“In 2011, The Suffolk County Police Department announced the unveiling of 10 bodies during the initial search for Shannan Gilbert, along the south shore of Long Beach, New York. The Long Island Serial Killer has yet to be apprehended.
The victims
The identified victims confirmed to have suffered at the hands of the Long Island Serial Killer are:
· Maureen Brainard-Barnes, a 25-year-old escort of Norwich Connecticut, vanished on July 9th, 2007, before telling a friend she planned “to spend a day in New York City”.
· Melissa Barthelemy was living in the Bronx of New York making a living as an escort, just 24 when she went missing on July 10th, 2009.
· Megan Waterman, 22, disappeared on June 6th, 2010, while staying at a hotel just 15 miles north of where she was discovered.
Suspected victims of the Long Island Serial Killer
· Amber Lynn Costello, 27, went missing on September 2nd, 2010 after going with a stranger in pursuit of her services.
· Jessica Taylor was 20 when she vanished in July 2003.
· On May 28th, 2020 police identified Valerie Mack, 24, of Philadelphia as the last identified victim of the Long Island Serial Killer. The 3 other victims remain unidentified.
An escort named Laenne stated she had performed services on a man named James Burke, a Suffolk county police chief, and claimed he had ties to the Long Island Serial Killer. Laenne claimed he violently yanked her while performing oral sex on him, to the point of her crying, he was unable to orgasm, threw money at her, and left. It is reported Burke blocked an FBI probe on the long island serial killer case while he held the position of police chief.
