The best thing that could happen to the Republican Party is to lose the presidency and both Houses.

That would give them 8 years to regroup. I believe that if the Democrats are in power for 8 years, no matter how much good they do, people will find fault with them. There will be plenty of issues that the Republicans will be able to run on in 2028.
