Dozens of students walked out of a class taught by Hillary Clinton in New York on Wednesday in protest at their university’s alleged role in the “shaming” of pro-Palestinian demonstrators.

About 30 students were involved in the protest at Columbia University, where the former secretary of state and previous senator for the state was delivering a foreign policy lecture as part of her global affairs class.

The walkout followed an incident last week in which photographs of students who signed a declaration blaming Israel for the 7 October Hamas attacks were displayed on video screens on trucks parked near the university campus above the words “Columbia’s biggest antisemites”, the New York Times reported.

St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell announced this week he was dropping his months-long bid to unseat one of the country’s most outspoken Republican senators, Josh Hawley, to launch a primary campaign to oust fellow Democrat Rep. Cori Bush.

When asked to explain his switch, Bell pointed to Bush’s criticism of Israel.

“Our world is in a dangerous place, and we need steady and effective leadership,” Bell told reporters Monday. “And we’re not getting it” in the district.

Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Summer L. Lee (D-Pa.) also drew primary challengers who cite their criticism of Israel as an issue. George Latimer, the executive of Westchester County, N.Y., said he is weighing a challenge to Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.), another member of the Squad, with Israel as a potentially defining issue in the race. “It might be that this becomes a proxy argument” between “the left and the far left,” Latimer told The Washington Post.

WASHINGTON — The Biden administration is unveiling new actions Monday to combat antisemitism on college campuses after an “alarming” uptick in incidents since the Israel-Hamas war started in early October.

The departments of Justice and Homeland Security are partnering with campus law enforcement to track hate-related threats and provide federal resources to schools, according to the plan, which was shared exclusively with NBC News.

Some of what they will be assessing includes specific and credible threats that are flagged online.

Dozens of cybersecurity and protective security experts at DHS have been detailed to engage with schools as they navigate incredibly tense environments, a White House official said.

"Israel is a country that has no place on our land," Hamas official Ghazi Hamad told Lebanese news outlet LBCI news this week, according to a report and translation from the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) released on Wednesday.

"We must remove that country," he continued.

Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels on Tuesday claimed responsibility for launching an aerial assault on Israel. Yahya Sare’e, a spokesperson for the Houthis, said in a statement that a “large number of ballistic and winged missiles” as well as drones had been launched against targets in Israel. The statement added that the attack is “the third operation in support of our oppressed brothers in Palestine,” and that the attacks would continue until “Israel ceases its aggression” in Gaza. Earlier, the Israeli Air Force said it had “thwarted an aerial threat in the Red Sea area” using its long-range “Arrow” defense system—which was jointly developed with the U.S. The air force added that the Arrow system intercepted a surface-to-surface missile, while fighter jets shot down other “aerial threats.” It said all of the threats were intercepted outside of Israel. The Houthis seized Sanaa, the capital of Yemen, in 2014, and the rebels still control large areas in the north of the country.

Law enforcement in Colorado is investigating after they said a "heavily armed" man was found dead inside an amusement park over the weekend "wearing body armor" with "multiple improvised explosive devices" on him.

The Garfield County Sheriff's Office reported that Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park employees notified officials the body of the 22-year-old man was found Saturday morning, prior to the park opening.

The park is located in Glenwood Springs, a resort city in the Rocky Mountains surrounded by the White River National Forest.

Walt Stowe, a spokesperson for the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office told USA TODAY the man’s death is being investigated as a possible suicide.
