Position Paper - Initiative and Referendum

https://twitter.com/DavidLujan/status/1376302615336603652

Initiative, Referendum, and Recall were added to the Arizona state Constitution to bypass the government in Phoenix if the people decided the government in Phoenix were either moving too slow or passing bills that people didn't like.

Prop 208 is now under attacks by the Republicans in the House. Here is my position and, if elected, I will propose this bill within the first seven days of office.

Any voter passed laws through election is the law, whether the legislature agrees or not. I support a law where any vote not to enact, disable, or fail to fund a voter-passed initiative would, at minimum, trigger an instant recall election, or, at maximum, be seen as an instant resignation by the legislative member that votes that way. The law would also add a disqualification for holding elected office to represent any part of Arizona for life. This applies to the governor as well.

No act of legislation should be used to overturn a voter initiative. That is for the courts. If the law violates the State Constitution, get a judge to issue an temporary injunction, then go to court to have it overturned. It should be illegal to draft legislation to overturn voter approved laws.

Policy Proposal for schools/workplace - Bullying

As a career teacher, I know that bullying is an unspoken, barely addressed, and normally overlooked and dismissed problem, but it is still a major problem in the US. Part of the problem is that bullies that are bullies as children rarely tell their children they were bullies, and normally bully people as adults.

Workplace bullying by supervisors is just as normal and odious as children bullying each other. Nothing stops it because the supervisor is always believed.

No adult, no parent, will ever be honest and say to their children "when I was your age, I bullied other classmates and children because I was a thoughtless, immature, nihilistic, sociopath and because I had things about me I didn't like, I tried to make others as miserable as me." Parents are never honest with their children about anything from their past, unless they are confronted face-to-face with their past and the wreckage they leave behind.

But since most bullies have no sense of remorse or self-reflection, they can justify in their own warped minds that things they did to rob their victim of any sense of self-worth and belief in themselves has nothing to do with how that person turned out.

After all, remember that logical fallacy from childhood: "sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me." Except they do hurt you. . .over a long time. And those scars never heal because when you are torn down day in and day out over a span of years, you tend to accept what people say as truth. You aren't good enough. You are disgusting, ugly, fat, and worthless. You are everything everyone claims, because as a principal once told me "the common factor in all of this is you. You make it happen."

I would propose laws treating bullying the same as hazing and sexual harassment if elected. Hazing can be emotional and psychological as well as physical. When will principal and teacher certification be revoked for enabling, encouraging, or doing nothing about bullying? When will parents be held financially and possibly criminally liable for the bullying their children do? Here in Arizona, parents can be arrested if their children are truant, and held financially responsible? When will supervisors get fired for being work place bullies, as there are countless horror stories of supervisors bullying employees they don't like and want to leave?

For this to be effective, there must be a massive cultural shift in perception. All we have now in lip service followed by "I feel your pain."

This epidemic must end.

I feel bad for clerks and workers in stores here in Arizona now

Ever since Governor Ice Cream Scoop rescinded the mask mandate, the looks on their faces when dealing with these COVIdiots has been tear enducing.

They feel helpless, they shy away, and they act as they are powerless. It is as though the wind had been knocked out of their sails.

And while I know that using the phrases in this post are not politically acceptable to some, I doubt, even if he lived in my LD, Gov. Fudge Ripple, his followers, or those screaming their rights about mask mandates would even consider voting for me.

How could a high school football coach think anti-Semitic play calls were appropriate?

There are hundreds of thousands of words in Merriam-Webster's hardcover dictionary, plus an infinite number of expressions like team names and admired athletes that aren't in the massive book.

Yet, with so many options at his disposal, the head football coach at Duxbury High in Massachusetts reportedly went with "Auschwitz," "Hitler" and "Holocaust" for some of his audible calls.

Auschwitz, as in the Nazi concentration and extermination camp where at least 1.1 million Jewish people were mercilessly killed during World War II. Hitler, as in the man who ordered the construction of death camps like Auschwitz. Holocaust, as in one of the worst atrocities in human history.

Of all the words available to him, these are ones that Dave Maimaron had his Duxbury players use.

News - Arizona town calls state of emergency over migrant arrivals

PHOENIX (AP) — A small town in Arizona has declared a state of emergency over migrant families being dropped there as a growing number of border communities grapple with how to get the new arrivals to shelters in bigger cities that can help them.

The situation simmering in Gila Bend and other communities near Arizona’s border with Mexico comes as much larger groups of asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors show up at bigger cities in Texas and California that have shelters where they can stay until they can travel to relatives or sponsors in the U.S.

Officials in Yuma and Tucson have said in recent days that U.S. authorities have told them that large tent-like facilities designed to help deal with the influx of new arrivals will be erected in their cities and are expected to be operating by mid-April.

I live outside of Tucson and I haven't heard any of this. Gila Bend is in the LD in which I am running and the last time I checked a map, Gila Bend was 80 miles from the border, so it isn't really NEAR the border. Tucson is closer at 60 miles. Bisbee is closer at 10 miles. Sasabe, Nogales, Douglas, and Agua Prieta are ON the border.

Map of the distance between Lukeville and Gila Bend

Again, way to push a narrative, Corporate Media.

I want to thank everyone for giving me things I can use to start my campaign

I will be going to Hughes to get all the bank paperwork for the Act Blue fundraising site on Friday.

I've made contact with Train Democrats and am taking their online course and actively working with and speaking on the NDTC Facebook group (A few have already offered to help).

Thank you so much for your kindness. I know I'm new at this and, with my personality, I am a bit of an introvert. But DU has been kind and a resource over the last few days.

I will update here with things being done, because I, unfortunately, am all set to take on Joel John, but need to have the army before I attack (I am using the Art of War to base my campaign strategy).

Thank you again.
