Please stop saying that the CCP is loosening their Zero Covid policy. They aren't.

They are doubling down more.

They require testing now every two days and charge you for it. I had to pay 32RMB for my wife and me because tomorrow we're moving into a new city 30KM from my in-laws house. Masks are required, even in your own car and you can be pulled over.

They still have the 5/3 quarantine requirement and still shut down entire cities and neighborhoods if ONE person pops hot with COVID, even if they are asymptomatic.

There is no relaxing of anything. To relax things means that the CCP and Winnie the Flu made mistakes and are admitting they are wrong. With the concept of saving and maintaining face, that cannot happen. Here, it is better to continue to go over a cliff than to stop and reconsider.

This is what happens when you back yourself into a corner with the rhetoric. They are now stuck and there is nothing they can do to "roll back" this moronic policy while maintaining face because they swore for two years that they would defeat the virus.

The people here have been told that foreigners brought it here, that foreigners caused it to be worse, and that the protests are now being caused by foreign influences, namely the USA. So, they have ramped up the jingoism and xenophobia to a fevered pitch.

To keep up the illusion that the rest of the world his dying more than China, they have censored the non-mask wearing crowds at the world cup. They have restricted the internet more than ever before and have a pervasive cult of personality around the creator of zero covid, Winnie the Flu.

However, will all the problems I mentioned in myfirst post about the protests, even if they slow down which they haven't seemed to, there aren't enough jails and the people of China are beginning to awaken from the brutality of the CCP and the psychopathy of Winnie the Flu. The cat is out of the back now and as I say in class "you can't put the fart back in the elephant."

It also doesn't help when doctors interview say that China will face five million deaths if they remove the Zero Covid Policy. That emboldens the CCP to double down even more. I find it hypocritical that people scream out of one side of their mouths how terrible Zero Covid is, then out of the other side say that giving it up will kill millions.

For those in the states, let me explain something. the Chinese don't care about masking. they wear masks all the time even before this BS with covid. they have masks to warm their faces, for bad pollution days, for house cleaning, for cooking and serving food, etc.

What they are protesting are arbitrary never ending quarantined that they need to pay for and people are dying and starving in them. they are protesting with blank white printer paper being symbolic that their government doesn't care about them yet alone listen to them.

here are current conditions here:
-youth unemployment at 40%
-internet completely restricted to things the CCP can regulate and wipe clean - intranet
-Quarantining and testing now having financial incentive with accounts for 1.3% of the Chinese GDP
-restricting travel throughout China by changing covid QR codes from green to red for no reason
-restricting travel out of China but making getting and renewing passports nearly impossible
-a housing market near complete collapse which most people put their life savings in and accounts for 39% of the GDP
-a banking system low on funds due to an extra low reserve requirement, mortgage people have given up paying for because their house will never be built, and has become one gigantic Ponzi scheme
-the drums.of war against Taiwan that only the CCP, their members, the kool aid drinkers, and Xi Jinping want
-an aging population where the youth will need to take care of their parents and grandparents as well as their families
-being the only country on earth where there are 100M more men than women in a culture where married men with children are viewed as mature and responsible enough for promoting
-inflation at nearly 12%

these are the traditional signs that a Chinese government has lost the mandate of heaven, something the CCP claimed in 1949.

why am I saying this? we just had an election where 43% of eligible voting age Americans did not even bother to show up. We live in a place we take whatever rights we have left for granted and don't care that our government is doing its best to choose away even more. And the protestors in China are risking arrest, long term detention in horrid jail conditions, beating, torture, a life destroyed if they get out or death while in jail for a fraction of what we take for granted or don't care when it's destroyed.

our apathy will destroy us and give us a tyrant like Ron DeSantis, who nothing more than that Trump with a nice paint job. the world's apathy to brutal regimes like Kim, Putin, Iran's Ayatollah, Eritrea, Egypt, Bolsanaro, Burma's military junta, and Xi's revival of Mao era policies will lead us all down the path of acceptance of authoritarianism.

Kevin McCarthy wants to block three Democrats from committees if he becomes House speaker

House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy served further notice Sunday that his potential speakership will be politically volatile, saying he will try to keep three high-profile Democrats off of certain committees.

Democrats said McCarthy will do whatever his right wing wants him to do because he still lacks the votes to land the speaker's job.

In stumping for the position, McCarthy has targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee; and Reps. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., members of the House Intelligence Committee.

McCarthy and other Republicans have for months said these members' past statements and actions regarding issues like Israel, China and Russia should keep them off these committees.

"I'll keep that promise" to remove them, McCarthy told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."
