Russian Pharmacies Short Of Medication, Customers Blame Sanctions

Sanctions over Russia's unprovoked war on Ukraine have now caused shortages throughout the sector, according to Russian patients.

Parents with sick children asking in vain for Nurofen are an increasingly common sight in Russia, where pharmacies are turning customers away.

Pharmacists say they no longer have the medicines they usually stock.

Arctic Blast Coming To Northeastern U.S.

A powerful cold front will sweep completely through the Northeastern U.S. by Friday morning to deliver a glancing shot of arctic air to the region through Saturday. Dangerous wind chills are likely and widespread wind chill warnings and advisories are already in effect for all of New England and parts of the Northeast. Even though it's a short lived blast, conditions will be extremely dangerous.

Man arrested with attempting to firebomb New Jersey synagogue

A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempting to firebomb a New Jersey synagogue. Nicolas Malindretos of Clinton, N.J., made his first appearance in a Newark federal court before Magistrate Judge Edward Kiel on Thursday, after being arrested a day earlier on one count of attempted use of fire to damage a building used in interstate commerce.

This 26-year old male just threw his life away over what? Hatred? Will this stupidity never cease? If this is his first offense, Nicolas Malindretos will probably get a 5-year sentence of probation and a fine. Good luck securing a livelihood for yourself.

NASA names first person of Hispanic heritage as chief astronaut

Veteran astronaut Joe Acaba made history on Thursday when he was named chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston.
Acaba is the first person of Hispanic heritage to be named chief astronaut, NASA said. Acaba, a California native, joined NASA in 2004, after serving as a reserve in the U.S. Marines.

El Salvador opens 40,000-inmate prison in 'war against gangs'

El Salvador has opened one of the world's largest prisons, which will hold 40,000 inmates as arrests soar in a government crackdown on violent crime.

The "Terrorism Confinement Centre" in Tecoluca has been completed in seven months to relieve some of the country's overcrowded jails.

Dale Culver: Five Canadian Mounties charged over death of indigenous man in custody

Dale Culver, 35, died in police custody in Prince George, British Columbia, in July 2017. Prosecutors have now charged two men from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on suspicion of manslaughter and three with attempting to obstruct justice.

Canada has its share of police abuse-- however, they try to remedy it.

The Canadians use an independent investigative body to review police conduct, in this case the Independent Investigations Office (IIO) of British Columbia.

If no independent review body in that province exists, a separate police service investigates the police conduct.

Massachusetts prisoners who donate organs may get less prison time

Inmates should be able to donate organs or bone marrow in exchange for reduced time in prison, according to a proposed bill in Massachusetts.

Donors would receive at least 60 days but no more than one year off their sentences.

Two state lawmakers - both Democrats - claim the bill would "restore bodily autonomy" to incarcerated people.
