Trump has taken credit for overturning Roe v. Wade, which has contributed to an increase in U.S. emergency rooms turning away pregnant women.

Clinton pointed the finger at Trump because he nominated Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, three of the Supreme Court justices who voted in 2022 to overturn the constitutional right to an abortion.

In January, Trump took credit for overturning Roe v. Wade during a town hall event.

"For 54 years, they were trying to get Roe v. Wade terminated, and I did it,” Trump said. “And I’m proud to have done it.”

Trump’s theory of immunity is unprecedented and, taken to its logical conclusion, incompatible with democracy. As his lawyer told the appeals court panel, under his theory, a president could order the assassination of a political rival and, unless he were impeached for it, escape prosecution. And as in Trump’s case, a president could attempt to overturn an electoral loss—the very mechanism by which democracy functions—without facing repercussions. But even if a majority of the justices reject Trump’s claims, they may still serve his goal of insulating him from prosecution—perhaps indefinitely.

Chauncey DeVega Hits Another One Out of the Park

There are certain writers and political analysts and news journalists who, in my opinion, almost always see the BIG picture, unlike many others. One of them is Thom Hartmann. And another is Chauncey DeVega. I'd rate this article yet another of his must reads:

Trump told his thousands of followers gathered before him that he wants the power to determine when presidential elections (and presumably other elections) take place. Trump is literally reading a page from the dictator’s playbook. At the end of his speech in Pennsylvania, Trump, channeling Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler, reached a crescendo by threatening those Americans — a group he has previously targeted as “vermin” and “traitors” — who are poisoning the “blood” of the nation:

Predictably, the American mainstream news media did not cover Trump’s Schnecksville political speech and rally in great detail. Instead, such journals of record as the New York Times, The Washington Post, Reuters, The Associated Press, and NPR summarized Trump’s speech and the events of that day in a manner that, for the most part, literally whitewashes the abnormal, the aberrant, and the inherent dangerousness of what the corrupt ex-president and the larger antidemocracy movement represent to the country and the world.

As I keep saying, this guy is dangerous. He says what he means and he means to DO what he says. I won't post the last paragraph of his piece (reached my limit) but I'd caution everyone to READ it.

As DeVega suggests, don't get too comfy making fun of this fkr sleeping (or pretending to sleep) in court. Because he's still got the compromised reich wing dominated SCOTUS in his side pocket. This I truly believe.

And he's just sitting there dreaming of all the ways he's going to make America PAY.

By words and actions, Republicans have proven they are not serious people, and most definitely do not love or care for our country. We have learned without any doubt during the past decade that there is no line they won’t cross, rule they won’t break, or lie they won’t tell to further their dirty causes, which have absolutely nothing to do with making America great.

They are incapable of good governance, and have settled into mob rule. The Republican-led House of Representatives is a complete and nasty joke, where members literally elbow and hiss at each other, and that is both true and terribly, terribly sad.

With help from our inept Justice Department and a bought-off Conservative Supreme Court, Republicans are making a mockery of the notion that our nation is protected by the rule of law. They know, better than anybody that this simply is not true.

The men TPM has identified as behind this group — and they are all men — have a few things in common. They’re all a certain kind of devout Christian traditionalist. They are white. They have means, financial and social, and are engaged in politics.

Tell the truth about Biden’s economy - Vox Exaggerating the harms of inflation doesn’t help working people.

Indeed. The article points out a number of FACTS, including that wages have been rising faster than prices for more than a year now, how our economy is the envy of the world, and our continued low unemployment rate.

But in spite of all that good news and more, voters continue to bemoan the economy, via polls that belie the TRUTH.

For example, 74 percent of swing-state voters in a recent Wall Street Journal poll said that inflation had moved in the wrong direction over the past year,

a statement that is straightforwardly untrue.

Moral of the story: STOP LETTING MAGATS (and the notoriously naive MSN) control the NARRATIVE.

After months of delays, Johnson has finally found the gumption to allow a package of bills providing security assistance to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan to move through the House. He’s organized it in a clever way. There will be separate votes on each of those three measures, allowing some Republicans to vote for the Israel portion alone and some Democrats to vote for the Ukraine portion alone, with plenty of crossover voting for both. There will also be a separate, fourth vote on a piece of “sidecar” legislation, intended as a legislative sweetener to move certain House priorities through the Senate. It would include measures seizing Russian foreign assets and forcing the Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok, among other things. Whatever passes will be rolled into one bill for the Senate to take up.

No sweetener, however, can satisfy the hard-right Republicans who’ve made abandonment of Ukraine a top priority. And Johnson’s decision to push through Ukraine aid—a policy choice he’s now passionately advocating for in a way we hadn’t previously seen—all but guarantees that Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, or some other fellow traveler, will force a vote on removing Johnson from his job, as she threatened to do several weeks ago.
