In a 3–2 vote on Tuesday, members voted in favor of a new rule requiring a “reasonable inquiry” before certifying election results. The board did not elaborate, however, on what exactly that inquiry would look like, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

That could spell chaos come November, especially considering that at least 70 election officials across 16 counties in key swing states, including Georgia, have been identified as pro–Donald Trump election denialists.

Trump praised the MAGA members of Georgia’s board days before the vote, describing Janice Johnston, Rick Jeffares, and Janelle King as “pit bulls fighting for victory.”

“I don’t know if you’ve heard, but the Georgia State Election Board is in a very positive way,” Trump said at his rally in Atlanta on Saturday. “They’re on fire, they’re doing a great job.”

AIPAC and its subsidiary the United Democracy Project (UDP) have targeted progressive members of Congress who have vocally opposed Israel’s 10-month war in Gaza. But their line of attack has often not been about foreign policy but, instead, that the leftists did not toe the Democratic line.

When Build Back Better was first introduced, it was budgeted at about $3.5 trillion. The House passed a version of the bill, only to be thwarted by Sen. Joe Manchin (I-W.Va.), who at the time had de facto veto power. Eventually, through a lot of negotiations (and exhausting back and forth), Biden and Congress passed two bills: the infrastructure bill and the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

During that process, to push for as many components of Build Back Better as possible, members of the progressive caucus withheld their votes from the infrastructure bill.

Bush and Bowman, alongside three other progressives, kept pushing to pass a fuller version that would give families a $3,600 annual Child Tax Credit, establish a guaranteed free pre-K program, increase housing investments, supply tax-funded elder care, incentivize green energy development, and expand Medicare and Medicaid. At the time, Bush said this more robust plan would have benefited low-income residents of her district, and people like herself—a Black single mother who spent time living in her car.

Former Obama White House ethics czar and impeachment lawyer Norm Eisen sounded the alarm about the Georgia Election Board changing the rules to give Donald Trump a boost.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Tuesday that the Trump-endorsed board is trying to change rules for the certification of the results.

The report explained that the three officials were involved in a "possibly illegal meeting where they approved two new election rules suggested to them directly by Georgia GOP chair Josh McKoon, who (along with the three officials) was also praised by Trump" during his rally on Saturday.

The Trump-backed majority will consider 15 changes, one of which would require "reasonable inquiry" before any county approves an election.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow sat down with Democratic lawyer Marc Elias on Monday to discuss Donald Trump's past efforts at election subversion and how his supporters are preparing to again undermine the vote in November.

"Republicans pioneered this in Michigan in 2020," Maddow said, speaking about Trump's pressuring of GOP officials to not sign a certification of the 2020 presidential election.

"Now Republicans have kept trying this thing in every election since," she added, citing a recent report from Democracy Docket, Elias' voting rights advocacy group, that officials in at least 10 counties have now refused to certify accurate election results. Republicans in Pennsylvania and Arizona also attempted to block the certification of the general election results outright.

"They're laying the foundation to do it again, in the next national election," Maddow said, noting how Trump at a Georgia rally last weekend "randomly" shouted out the names of three members of the Georgia state board of elections. "Those three officials have all refused to acknowledge that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election," Maddow clarified. "They are now trying to push through new rules that would make it easier for county-level officials to refuse to certify election results."

“I mean this in the most disparaging way possible: that went about as well as could be expected. Putting Trump in front of a Black audience and asking him to speak on race was never going to get more elevated than, ‘the lady said she was both Indian and Black. That is cheating.”

“So, none of this needs saying, but Harris didn’t ‘make a turn’ into being Black like it’s an interstate off-ramp. Her father’s black, and her mother was Indian.”

For the second time in less than two weeks, a doctored video of Vice President Kamala Harris has spread widely on Elon Musk’s social media platform X.

A video known as a “deepfake” that was posted on X on Saturday appears to show Harris repeating herself over and over again, using a crude audio rendering made to seem like Harris is struggling to finish a complete sentence.

The video is obviously manipulated and easily debunked by viewing the unaltered footage (you can watch that here at about the 1:30 mark), which shows Harris speaking smoothly, without repeating the same words and phrases as portrayed in the doctored video.

This year, Kemp signed a new law allowing any citizen to present a list of voters they believe must be purged from the rolls; one person, Marjorie Taylor Greene ally and Republican activist Pam Reardon, submitted a list of 32,000 voters, and the Chairman of the Ft. Benning area GOP, Alton Russell, challenged over 4,000 voters. A total of 149,000 voters were challenged by a handful of white Republican activists.

This week Georgia rolled out a new website where people can let the state know they’ve moved (or their relative has died) and cancel their voter registration online. It’s super easy; you just plug in your information and, poof, your voter registration vanishes.

The problem with the new “cancel my registration” site is that bad actors, if they know a person’s name, address, DOB, and either Social Security or drivers’ license number, can simply go in and cancel other people they don’t want voting.

For an hour Monday, the entire Georgia voter database — including names, addresses, dates of birth, and Social Security and drivers’ license numbers — was publicly posted on that very site. Oops, Kemp said! Anybody could download it and share it with others, including Republican activists who might want to keep on purging Democratic voters.

Former Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro and a Trump campaign staffer, G. Michael Brown, were caught on camera handing fake elector documents from Washington and Michigan to aides of Republican Representative Mike Kelly of Pennsylvania on January 5.

The video corroborates what Chesebro admitted in a text message on January 6: that he dropped off fake elector documents to Kelly’s aides a day prior.

It’s bad news for Kelly—and even worse news for Chesebro, who is already in trouble in Michigan for his involvement in the fake elector scheme in that state.

Billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk deadnamed his daughter and suggested she was “killed by the woke mind virus” in a pair of transphobic tirades with right-wing influencer Jordan Peterson and on X, prompting his daughter, Vivian Jenna Wilson, to hit back.

"I look pretty good for a dead b***h," she wrote, before elaborating on Musk's allegations.

“This is entirely fake. Like, literally none of this ever happened,” Wilson wrote in a post on X competitor Threads, referring to Musk’s claim that she “was born gay” and presented stereotypically gay traits as a small child. “I did not have a ‘love of musicals & theatre’ when I was four…I did not use the word fabulous when I was four because once again I would like to reiterate… I was four.

Musk, who has amplified transphobic ideology and pledged tens of millions of dollars to anti-trans politicians including Donald Trump, told Peterson in their interview that he planned to relocate the offices for multiple companies from California to Texas in an act of protest against laws that protect the safety of trans children.
