I have never quite understood the apparent shift of Iowa to a strongly Republican state, but I guess it was just a 'Trump thing' . Iowa is very rural, and Trump has always performed best with that demographic.
However, for many elections post-Reagan, Iowa voted for the Democratic candidate---
the start of that streak was 1988, for pete's sake, when DUKAKIS won Iowa even in the midst of his landslide loss to Bush Sr.:

The Democratic presidential nominee also won Iowa twice with Clinton, once with Gore, and twice with Obama.
Between 1988 and 2012, the Democrats only lost Iowa once, in 2004.... then Trump won it twice in 2016 and 2020.
But it seems that 2024 is a different year again, and all the metrics are with the Democrats.
Seems that Iowa women don't like their rights being taken away....
I think Harris-Walz should send someone to Iowa before it's over---
probably not Harris or Walz, but at least a top surrogate for at least ONE rally!
(although Governor Walz would seem like a 'natural' for this particular state, his neighbor!)
The article I read says neither campaign even has an office there, although I suppose both state parties do---

The Madison Square Garden rally which invoked memories of the pro-Nazi 1938 rally,
where his "comedian" said that Puerto Rico was a floating island of garbage--
enraging what may turn out to be a pivotal block of voters across the swing states....
His response to the outrage was to dress up as a garbage man,
and had trouble finding the door handle to get into his own garbage truck....
His sickophants (sic) had a hissy-fit over pro-Kamala advertisements
which remind women that they are in control of their own vote,
and have the right to vote for whomever they wish, regardless of what their husband thinks
(their reaction drew more attention to the ad, than the rather clever ad itself was getting,
up to that point--- possibly)
He made remarks about shoving Liz Cheney in front of nine rifles "aimed at her face"---
(OK, he didn't explicitly say it was a "firing squad" in this case,
although he has suggested that for others---- but they were CLEARLY remarks
that could encourage violent acts against her from his followers,
and I think that was the point--- that is ALWAYS the point, with him)
then he tried to walk the remarks back, keeping them in the next news cycle.... good work, DonOLD
And finally, he mimicked masturbation, and giving a blowjob to someone's huge dick
in front of one of his rally crowds (possibly still obsessing over Arnold Palmer---
or acting out for the audience 'being Putin's toy lapdog, I can't quite decide which)
I think he may have finally reached "rock bottom" with that---
I presume it was some kind of intended insult against our candidate--- BUT---
the visuals stand alone. I can't quite bleach my brain away from that one......
