4. Hey--WE own this road!
I knew a guy once that came around a blind curve in Montana and hit a buffalo. Totaled his truck.

5. Yes, my Dad grewup in Oklahoma and said they get kind of aggressive and protective of the herd.
Never approach.

7. When they aren't stampeding like that...
It's common to see one large bull stand in the road and hold up traffic until the whole group gets to the other side.
What you don't want is to ever turn your back on one, you could get flung. |

6. At least they were moving!
As opposed to meandering. If you turn off your headlights, they will be less likely to end up stopped in front of your vehicle. They also like to see your eyes when they walk by your car slowly.
Cool shot, hope they get to replace that bridge this year, it's about to fall into the river. |

Though if I was in one of those cars, I'd be kinda nervous...

10. I'm sure I would be, too!
But I'd be impressed by the experience in retrospect!

11. Good thing the bison were respectful:
Otherwise, I can just hear the conversation with the insurance company: "Well, you know, I was just driving in Yellowstone Park, minding my own business, when out of the blue comes this stampede of bison"!
Thanks for posting! |

12. Yes, bison are respectful..I was camping in South Dakota once, and a bison
came into the camp & I got about 5 feet away and took a picture. Now that was not the brightest move, I will admit, but we stared at each other, and then we both existed that area. Now where is that picture? I haven't got a clue.
