If you are serious about your girlfriend no choice but to mostly ignor it. It's his home. Leave the room if you can, bite your tongue, deftly change the topic if you can if it turns political.
Don't engage it and risk it getting contentious. If push comes to shove, simply say, "We have very different views on things, this is your house, I want to respect that, enjoy your hospitality, and being with "Mary's" family for the holiday," then deflect with humor, (It's bad enough I'm a pats fan, if they are gets fans ...)
Your girlfriend, and probably others in the family will appreciate it if you avoid a drug out partisan debate, and unless they are D's, it won't be good for you to drill him.
